Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

Well this one bears watching. There was no hint of anything happening to her in the early news on this that I saw until now. Just like the air fresheners. Getting a jaw wired is a pretty big deal, I know someone who went through it years ago. It could have been due to a bf or a car crash before or after. I am not saying it was and that it is not true but body cams, etc. should show any chance if an officer did such and why and what led up to it. Reserving opinion until more comes out but it sounds pretty hokey at this later date, with just hearing about it now. Did you search Duane instead of Daunte? You said Duane in your post. They say no reason to think foul play but the man apparently came to be in the vehicle after the vehicle was in the water and by some major amount of time. Weird.

Interesting that at the top of this information on Wiki, it says they are considering deleting the article/info but does not say why.

If all is true as written, she was in the process of attacking and stabbing another with a knife (I assume knife) and had already attacked one. Lives were at stake. This girl again if all true is no innocent victim. And if LeBron knows these allgeed facts, then I don't see what he did.

If people want police brutality taken seriously (and I don't doubt there is some and a few bad apples in LE here and there), then taking cases that don't apply at all and calling it the same will not help that cause. Imo.

Good question. The person I knew who had their jaw wired back when was in a car accident. As of right now, this sounds very fishy. They did crash did they not?

This case is not as clear as the others. The officer did draw the wrong weapon, that's clear. She herself called "tase". In Floyd, I feel Floyd resisted but Floyd never tried to flee unlike Daunte here. Yet the wrong weapon was drawn.

I sure hope with this allegation by the girlfriend that all the cops body cams were working, there are no blank spots or times you cannot see what is going on, etc. if the girlfriend is now claiming this as well. It is concerning because it is pretty bold (and stupid imo) to say the cops did that to her if bodycam would prove her wrong. I better stop as this is not the thread but anyhow, I guess more will come out to help us know.
