ABC affiliate WDHN-TV, citing police, reported Hooper picked up her older son from school on February 16 around 3:30 p.m. Hollister Lee Hooper, who is 6-years-old, attends New Brockton Elementary. The outlet reported Hooper had the baby, Thomas Reagan Hooper, with her as well.

Officials have expressed concern that Hooper could pose a danger to herself as well as to her two children. CBS affiliate WTVY-TV, citing New Brockton Police Chief Dale Grimes, reported Hooper was believed to be armed. WDHN-TV also reported Hooper had two handguns in her possession when she took off.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency noted in the missing person report that Hooper had a condition that could impair her judgment. Grimes told WTVY-TV Hooper suffers from multiple sclerosis.

Even if this feeling is unfounded, I always have a tiny bit more hope when the mother has them. I know how biased that sounds🙈, praying for a good outcome anyway🙏
I always have more hope when a parent is involved whether mother or father, but yes, I am biased too, more hope when it is the mother. I don't know if that is biased really so much as also factoring in statistics and just knowing as a mother that most, maybe not all, have a mother's maternal connection at some level no matter what life has thrown their way.

It certainly gives more hope if it is either parent than hearing some absolute stranger unknown from out of the area took the child(ren). We see more safe recoveries and good outcomes.

Just after I posted I remembered Susan Smith, Diane Downs...,...
There are sure enough examples where a mother harmed her kids. Sorry to all the good Dads out there❤

There are, no doubt. Still I think the odds are better just overall. I am not a statistic kind of person because I think so much is general and not factored into statistics and am not male bashing but more men are serial killers, murderers, etc. or at least so it seems.

And so many of these cases lately seem to be more CPS and custody related. Regardless of the reasons to have hope, I have more hope with them when either parent is involved just as I do sometimes with someone over 18 who may have left by choice if there are no indications of foul play or abduction by a stranger...

Anyhow, I hope and pray this one has a safe outcome.

This is the scariest part though.....why take handguns with you if you have good intentions?

I'd like to know what had happened prior to the school pick-up that caused her to feel like taking handguns was so important. Has anyone ever heard of MS causing such an emotional (mental) distress?
Depression is extremely common in those with MS. But I'd imagine if the "right" (wrong) nerves are damaged it could cause a host of other mental complications.

This one is a bit different. It technically does not sound like a kidnapping. If I am reading it right, she is married and had one child with and was picking up the other and apparently had every right to do so? It is just that now she is missing right?

I'm confused .. NCMEC has the 2 boys listed (above pic) however when you select either one of their profile pages both display an error. Have they been found?

Also, ALEA does not show anyone with this last name as missing.
I sure hope that means they have been found...

You know, it is unclear here if any crime really has even been committed. If she has every right to custody, just as with any of us, she can take her children anywhere she likes and I imagine she could dispute they are at risk with her or that she has any issues. The firearm thing is worrisome but she may carry normally and perhaps one is kept in the vehicle as well.

It seems to me in a lot of these cases, if medication is needed, or a risk factor can be said to apply, they seem to be able to make it more of an urgent publicly announced disappearance... or at times to qualify for some type of alert?

I have hope in this one yet.

Who reported her missing? Could it be her husband? Per her you tube videos with the boys she surely doesn't come across as anything but religious and loves her kids. I'll sit on my hands, for now, however I think the husband has more explaining to do.

I have wondered the same thing honestly and somewhat sort of hinted at it above. Or I thought perhaps they needed some "risk" factor to make it more urgent to have resources to find them and get the word out. There truly is a lot missing in what I have read here (I haven't watched it on Youtube or anywhere else yet), but it just truly never says she did not have custody nor any right to take them and they sound currently married... She could even be somewhere planning on serving him with divorce papers for all we know if for some reason they were not getting along or were having problems... There is just much not explained...

As for the MS thing, I have MS and am dealing with depression for about 20 years now. But ms is the disease of a thousand faces so every case is different. Maybe an acute psychosis is playing a role here? But that's also just guessing...all my own opinion. 😥

Sorry you deal with that, you seem like an upbeat person who handles it well.

I still am hopeful in this one but it is about eight days already and that is worrisome.
