Cape Coral Police need help locating missing woman

Lauren Brittney Dumolo, 30, was last seen on June 19th, 2020, at 4927 Coronado Parkway Apartment #1, and she was reported missing on June 21st.

Police say her purse had been located by a citizen at Four Freedoms Park (4818 Tarpon Court) on June 19th, a place she often visited.

Her cell phone was also located in her apartment.

Lauren's status as a missing person was changed to a missing person endangered on June 24th as a result of the investigation.

Lauren is a frequent walker in the area and does not own a car.

Police work to trace Cape Coral woman’s suspicious disappearance

Investigators are working to trace the steps of a young mother who seemed to vanish into thin air.

Nobody has seen 29-year-old Lauren Dumolo in 11 days Tuesday. Cape Coral Police Department considers her disappearance suspicious. Her purse was found at park she frequented, and her cell phone was found by police at her home.

With the help of our Safety & Security Specialist, we looked at her disappearance as police would.

That started with a conversation with her father. Lauren’s dad, Paul Dumolo flew into Southwest Florida from California once his daughter went missing. He says his daughter’s disappearance is out of character.

“Gut feeling as a father, that’s not my daughter,” Paul said. “She would’ve at least called somebody and she would’ve answered my texts.”

Paul admits his daughter’s gone through some tough times but has been on the straight and narrow since she lost custody of her child two years ago. Lauren has a young daughter of 5 years old, who lives up north with her paternal grandmother.

“She didn’t want that for her life anymore,” Paul said. “No matter what it was, she always knew she could reach out to me.”

So, when Paul’s daughter didn’t call him on Father’s Day, he knew something was wrong.

“I can’t cry, man. I gotta stay strong because I gotta find my daughter,” Paul said.

June 19, Lauren’s live-in boyfriend was reportedly the last person to see her. That same day, her purse was found at Four Freedoms Park.

“It’s like she fell off the face of the earth,” said. Boom. Gone. “

We saw police canvassing the area and passing out fliers.

A man we saw talking to police didn’t want to be interviewed on the record but told us that he saw Lauren June 19 around 8 a.m. and waved at her.

He said, the day before, Lauren asked him about available apartments, saying she “wanted to get out of the situation she was in.”

“It signals to me that she’s scared of this man,” Paul said. “I have no choice but to think the worst right now.”

CCPD told us the reason they elevated Lauren’s case to endangered is because, when someone disappears voluntarily, they take their belongings, a wallet, a phone. In this case, she did not.

It has officially been three months since Cape Coral woman, Lauren Dumolo, was last seen.

Since that day in June, her family has been searching tirelessly for clues about her disappearance.

"She always had this outgoing personality, she’s just this sweet loving girl. Anybody with any information or can point me in the right direction so I can find my daughter that’s all I ask for, no questions asked," said Paul Dumolo, Lauren's father.

Cape Coral police department says they have no new leads or imformation regarding Lauren's case.

Family of missing Cape Coral woman hiring private investigator

Almost five months ago a Cape Coral woman seemed to have disappeared. Her cellphone left at her apartment and her purse found in a park she often went to meditate are the last clues Lauren Dumolo left behind for her family.

For the past 139 days, Cape Coral Police Department has been in charge of locating Dumolo and finding out what happened to her, but hasn't reported any advances.

After pleas from the family to bring in outside agencies, such as Lee County Sheriff's Office and the FBI, to help, Paul Dumolo, Lauren Dumolo's father, is hiring a private investigator.

You know, I mentioned a few posts above how this case does not have the attention some do. I forget about it sometimes myself because of that I am sad to say and yet when I see a new post, I know which case it is. The one with the planted purse imo. Why does Morphew have so much attention but Dumolo does not?

Lack of news I think plays in, when a case goes quiet or there is no news, what can one talk about to keep it going and getting attention? I think media plays in, in some states if a local reporter grabs onto a case to make a name, there are still a rare few who try or whose news orgs let them, or these days even a Youtuber, it gets it out to the public eye. Even then though, if there is no info, it dies or goes pretty silent...

Does anyone recall a family hiring a private investigator and it helps get them any further into locating a missing person? I can't think of any.
It seems to me I know of a couple and one for sure that I really should be able to bring to mind but darned if I can recall. It may not have been finding the person either but of putting the case together and solving it, I can't recall that either...

In that other new case of Veta Belford, her mother has a PI and now it sounds like is hiring one in NYC as well...

I think like hiring anyone, it would sure depend on who you hired, there are good ones and there are bad ones. I do know that many but not all PIs are retired law enforcement. I actually got to work for more than a few. One was actually a retired Fed agent. One advantage to them is in most states they can do things that LE does not have the authority to do. Some people will talk to a PI that won't to LE also. It may have to be off record even but it can develop leads. I was always a bit intrigued with it and I even did a little myself and was put to work on a few cases.

The down side is in at least my home state it does not take or used to not take a whole lot to get a license so you can have good ones and bad ones... A short course, one day or something or it may have even been a quick manual, then a test and that's it if I recall.

I never worked for her but there was a female one I know of through a case back when somewhere I worked that just happened to have a "flat tire" on the road near the person's house she was surveilling... I believe no one had been able to get close to the guy and his home was protected and private. He fell for it hook, line and sinker and helped her out... Injury cases are often surveilled. The insurance company wants to show the person can do the physical things they claim they cannot... Lo and behold, this man did exactly that...

I guess I haven't known of any cases where a hired PI helped the family. However, I'm going to assume that perhaps the information wasn't made public.

No article but a short video. Glad to see it garnering some attention. A bit more info than previously known, or at least to me.

Lauren Dumolo, 29, was last seen by her boyfriend at the apartment they share on Coronado Parkway in Cape Coral, Florida on June 19, 2020. On the same day, her purse was found in Four Freedoms Park, a place she was known to frequent. Her cell phone was later found in her apartment. On June 24, police deemed Lauren’s disappearance “suspicious” and the status was changed to missing person endangered, based on their investigation, according to Detective Nick Jones of the Cape Coral Police, who has been working to find Lauren. Police are looking at all leads in the case and Det. Jones confirmed several people have been interviewed, including Lauren’s boyfriend. He would not comment on whether anyone they’ve interviewed is being considered a person of interest in the case. Lauren is described as being 5 feet tall and weighing about 110 pounds. She has brown eyes and light brown hair that, at the timeof her disappearance, had been dyed blonde. She has tattoos, including “Namaste” on her right side, a symbol on her wrist, an “NY” symbol on her pelvis, and rosary beads on her ankle. Anyone with any information on Lauren’s whereabouts is asked to contact Cape Coral Police at (239) 574-3223. 'Everyday I think about her,' Lauren Dumolo's sister says as month six of her missing approaches

Almost six months have gone by not knowing where her sister is. Some days Carey is full of hope that today is going to be the day they hear some news, and others she can't believe this is still happening.

"You would think it would get easier, but it's not. It is the same as day one," Carey said.

As time goes by, Dumolo's family and friends face continued grief. They push on through holidays and milestones without her.

6 months later: Family of missing Cape Coral mother begs for answers

One of the things Paul Dumolo misses most about his daughter, Lauren, is her voice.

“I really miss hearing her, and her calling me saying, ‘Hey pops!’ — That’s what she called me,” he said.

Lauren was last seen on June 19, 2020 at her apartment complex off Coronado Parkway in Cape Coral. A maintenance man told investigators she stopped him and asked if he knew of any cheap apartments.

“With today’s technology and all of the cameras and forensics and everything we see and have now, it’s really really hard for me to understand how there is nothing,” Paul explained.

Paul has since hired a private investigator to dig into Lauren’s case. Walt Zalisko, the President of Global Investigative Group, has been looking into her disappearance for several weeks and wants to talk to anyone in the area who knew Lauren, or may know where she is and what happened to her. You can contact him by clicking here.

“I won’t stop until I find out what happened to my daughter,” her father said. “I won’t stop until the day I take my last breath.”

I know I have said it before but I wish this case had more attention and her father had more help. I believe he asked LE to involve other agencies but I think they refused. Maybe LE is hard at work but there has been no indication at all they are actively doing anything on the case that I am aware of anyhow.

Community members keep search alive for Cape Coral woman

Friends of a missing woman in Southwest Florida hope to get some closure.

Lauren Dumolo disappeared in Cape Coral in 2020. Wednesday, her friends and Cape Coral Police Department hosted a walk and candlelight vigil on National Missing Person’s Day.

They are urging people to come forward with any information they have about Dumolo’s whereabouts or anyone else who has disappeared.

“It’s tough. It’s tough not to have the answers that we want at this point, investigating it for this long,” Malone said. “But we’re always hopeful that something may pan out, and we might get some good information.”

“It’s really important to keep her face out there and to let everyone know that we’re not giving up,” Langevin said.
