It's being reported that this started as a domestic dispute so I wouldn't be surprised that one of the women who were shot was in a relationship with the killer.

I can see being mad at a partner but why in God's name kill all of your kids over it?

I heard on the radio this morning that he killed his wife and girlfriend, so I thought it might be a raging situation....

Elkins had been stressed about his relationship with Pugh, who sought a divorce, and was struggling with suicidal ideation, his parents told The New York Times.

He reportedly called his mother, Mahelia Elkins, and stepfather, Marcus Jackson, in tears over Easter and told them that he wanted to end his life.

'I told him, "You can beat stuff, man. I don't care what you're going through, you can beat it,"' Jackson told the newspaper. 'Then I remember him telling me: "Some people don't come back from their demons."'

Elkins and Pugh were wed in 2024. Ms Elkins said she did not know the reasons why Pugh was seeking to end their marriage.

Elkins, who was fatally shot by police during a vehicle chase, killed his seven children and a nephew 'execution style' in one of the deadliest family massacres in American history.

A total of 10 people were shot, with Pugh and another woman surviving. <snipped>

Still no mention about a girlfriend. Maybe that's just a big fat rumor.

I saw this news. It happens alot. It is terrible killing anyone. Then killing children, much less your own.One was a cousin of the children. He had 7 children. 4 with his wife, and 3 with another woman. They were separating. It's the ultimate thing they can control. "You hurt me, I'm going to hurt you". You are that disrespected?. I don't understand either. I know thecreasoning. I just don't understand the mentality. Absolutely horrific. 😡

That's ridiculous! There should be NO limitations on those crimes! There are several reasons why the crines are not reported immediately or within a guideline set. Apparently Cindy has never been a victim of this. By her own words, she is worried about civil suits. It's people's lives!!! Civil suits holds someone accountable. It doesn't change what happened. But, it is some type of justice. I swear, these people will only understand if it happens to them or someone they know.

I remember reading about the mother of 3 of his children and that she was shot also.

16 and 17. Not difficult. They knew what they were doing. They look like babies. But, they killed 2 and shot others. They went looking for a fight. Charge them as adults. Seems premeditated. I can't believe they aren't in custody.

Based on search results regarding the April 2026 Shreveport, Louisiana mass shooting, Shamar Elkins shot two women who were identified as the mothers of his children.

  • Christina Snow: Identified as one of the women shot and wounded by Elkins, she is referred to in reports as his girlfriend. She and Elkins had children together.
