Police strongly believe Basil's noncustodial mother, Madeline Daly, has taken the baby in defiance of court orders. The baby's father, who lives about 500 miles away in Nebraska. believes the same. Police have issued a national BOLO for Daly. "Daly is driving a 2017 gray Dodge Ram pickup with Wyoming license plate 20-T-2234." (BBM) She has long brown hair, brown eyes, a septum nose ring. In addition to the baby, she is believed to be traveling with 2 dogs and a puppy. The dogs are a black female pit bull and a cattle dog. The puppy is black and white. Police believe she will go off grid and camp in state or national forests or on BLM land. She has ties to Denver CO; Moab UT; Hill City SD; and Lincoln NE, having previously lived in those places. She enjoys cleaning houses for cash on the side and may be sleeping in her truck. She has previously worked on ranches.

Why don't they kill themselves instead of their child? That piece of excrement offers nothing to this world and would be no loss but her little boy had his entire life ahead of him.

I'm totally for the loosening of Amber Alerts in some states and nationally as well. If a child is missing and under the control of another especially, even if a parent, they are in danger imo. I always have more hope when they are with a parent but never should that not be taken as seriously imo.

He was nothing but an object to her and a pawn to use against the father imo. She just offed the child rather than letting the father have him, or see him. But not herself. With so many of them, never themselves, just the children, spouse, etc.

I want her alive from hereon out there so she can rot every day of her life in a prison for the rest of her life. She had BETTER get life with no chance of ever getting out.

I love that he is creating a cemetery on his land for Basil. I think Basil would like that.

And not the nicest remark to add to that but I have to say it--and she will hate it.

RIP little boy.

Trial Set For Wyoming Woman Accused Of Kidnapping, Killing Infant During Standoff

Seven months after allegedly kidnapping her 11-month-old son, fleeing the state, then shooting and killing the infant during a brief standoff with law enforcement, a trial has been set for Madeline Daly.

It will be another six months before a Grant County, New Mexico, jury trial is scheduled to begin on Jan. 11, 2027, which was set during a July 21 pretrial hearing.

While the wheels of justice take time, there’s no amount of time that can make Jake Stoner feel much better since the death of his son, reportedly at the hands of his mother.

“There’s a special kind of evil at work here,” he told Cowboy State Daily on Tuesday as Daly, 35, sits in a southwest New Mexico jail cell facing charges of first-degree murder and intentional abuse of a child resulting in death.

Stoner said he’s still “pretty much” shellshocked.

It’s not clear from Daly’s public-facing court file if a mental evaluation has been asked for or ordered leading up to the trail. There are four documents that have been sealed from public view.

She remains in the Grant County Detention Center without bond.

In the meantime, she also faces a potential felony charge in Wyoming of interference with custody, which could get her up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $10,000, or both.

Mother pleads guilty to killing own infant in New Mexico

A Wyoming woman has pleaded guility to first-degree murder in the shooting death of her own 11-month-old son last December in a child custody dispute that culminated in rural New Mexico, the Sixth Judicial District Attorney’s Office said.

Madeline Veronique Daly, age 36 of Worland, Wyoming, made the guilty plea Monday, Aug. 24 in Silver City, according to the DA’s Office.

A separate sentencing hearing will be held at a future date. Presiding Judge Tom F. Stewart ruled he wanted additional time to review the case.

As a result of the plea agreement, Daly is facing a life sentence to be served in the New Mexico Department of Corrections.
