California authorities launch search for girl who hasn’t been seen in at least 1 year​

Authorities in Santa Barbara County launched a search for a 9-year-old girl who has not been seen in a year, and who has not been seen in a photograph in two.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office began searching for Melodee Buzzard on Tuesday after a school administrator reported she hadn’t been at school in quite some time.

Deputies attempted to contact Melodee and her mother, Ashlee Buzzard, at their home in Lompoc, but the elementary school student was not there, and “no clear explanation was provided for her whereabouts.”

Although the missing persons case is only one-day-old, detectives have been unable to confirm a single recent sighting in about a year. The most recent photograph they were able to locate was taken at least two years ago, officials said.

The Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about Melodee, potential sightings or contact in the past year, to come forward.

“Even small details may be critical in helping investigators ensure her safety,” the Sheriff’s Office wrote in a news release.

Part was from the minor, and part was for herself for being the one caring for the minor. I don't know how they sort out payments at SSI in this particular case, but if Ashlee had been deemed mentally ill, for example, that payment could be even higher.

That would make it even worse. No matter how much she had coming in, the lawsuits for lack of payments means she definitely was not managing before this and then add the car rentals and other trip costs that came after the non payment lawsuits. She definitely was spending far more than she had coming in. IF she was making big bank on ssi, then she is using this money way too much on non essentials with the trips(s?), wigs, new clothes, etc.

We're also talking California rent prices. If she receives very much ssi $ she wouldn't' qualify for HUD housing and if she is spending all this money and not on HUD, most of her ssi would be going to rent. Something is definitely up with her finances. The math ain't mathin!

The friend said it is a pretty nice area where AB has that house and I believe they said it was three bed, two bath.

I can't imagine what the rent would be but it would have to be about $2k or thereabouts wouldn't it, or even MORE?

She filed bankruptcy years ago, I don't recall the year but I recall thinking that's seven years so the time is passed where it affects your credit.

It's possible she works. It is also possible she was cash advancing on credit cards to pay rent, etc. It's possible other than the credit card delinquency that she is still not destitute or doesn't have some cards that still work or savings, etc.

To work most jobs though, she'd have had to have had MB in day care or a friend sitting as she was not in school but did she used to be in school, I wonder?

I heard a neighbor say her mom had lived next door to her for about two years but they never asked her if AB was the one to move into the neighborhood or her mom was.

Since the other family nor her own mother has talked to her in forever or so it seems, there is no way to know. I wonder how long she lived there, was she working, is it possible she went back to school for something or does have some further education? We don't know any of this. I've wondered if she isn't a hairdresser because of the wigs and makeup lol. Or something on that order.

Does anyone know if she had a social media presence??

Usually we have more info on the person's life by now and that's often where some of it comes from.

Even if she was, what's to stop her from warning the person she is with or telling them to move? He did say she seemed to regret telling him and then would not let him leave.

If it's within her limit of where she can go, sure she could work. She may not have limits, unsure. One of his family members was upset at her release and distance she could travel on monitor becuse she was saying she thought they had to stay within the county. That said to me she is allowed to at least go out of county. I never heard if she had any limitation.

Sounds like that is what he believed she possibly did, anyway. Then he did the right thing by telling LE what she said and they found a way to officially arrest her.

Mom didn't cooperate so it's unlikely description is from her so it's a ballpark guess imo.

My guess is she was more upset thinking he was trying to find out for LE or the family. And he may have mentioned an area like one we all know of, Panguitch, that LE has said is an area of interest, to her and asked if she left her there and she may have just said "so you think I left her there" in a questioning way. I think this can be interpreted in a couple of ways. He then also said who knows if she was telling the truth. To me it sounds more as if she questioned what he thought but who knows. We only have his version of what was said.

He didn't go in there imo with any more knowledge than any of us have which comes from LE...
