19 with 3 kids. Wow. That's a lot to deal with. By accounts, she was going to work. Her children wondered all this time what happened to their mother. Sounds like they didn't do a whole lot to identify her. 41 years. This is heartbreaking.![]()

I saw yesterday there is a settlement. Being incarcerated is more important, IMO. No one else came forward. But, I bet she isn't the only one. He probably won't even serve the measly 6 months.6 months!!!

Yep, that's a lot to deal with. Now, where's the husband???19 with 3 kids. Wow. That's a lot to deal with. By accounts, she was going to work. Her children wondered all this time what happened to their mother. Sounds like they didn't do a whole lot to identify her. 41 years. This is heartbreaking.
This is INTERESTING. Several interesting things in it, many of which occurred after she went missing. I'll give just one example, has anyone ever heard of dying from carbon monoxide while on an OPEN boat on the water? Not just one person but several. Well worth the watch.
She went missing in the 70s but daughter is trying to get attn for the case now and solve it.
It was her sister and the sister's entire family and a boy they took with. I believe it was a jet boat. What was explained to her was the fog pushed the fumes down or something like that. The husband had slowed the boat because of fog. I am talking of the daughters of Patty Otto. One was on with Nate and the other died in this boating mishap.yes, it happens a LOT. Not necessarily death, but many, many poisonings while on board on the water. Most of the time it's either coming up through the hull or the people are sitting right by the motor or in the water near the motor while it's idling. Definitely happens. I see at least one case every summer posted just from my state.
I'm not saying it happened in that case, but with fog there is no breeze to carry the fumes away so it is plausible. Google boat and carbon monoxide and you will get so many cases. It was her sister and the sister's entire family and a boy they took with. I believe it was a jet boat. Didn't know it was even heard of, I'd never heard of such before.
There are other oddities in the video, years after the case. She ended up marrying a guy whose father was one of the group who found a body she believes to be her mother. However, it can't be pursued because that county in Oregon disposed of all evidence in that case and closed it. Neither she nor her husband knew when they married about his father finding a body. Lots of interesting things.
Her father died in jail too which she finds questionable, as to cause.
A lot of tragedy, her entire family over time is now gone.
It's interesting, that's for sure.
Yeah, I'd never heard of it period but definitely not with fog. Speed was also a factor, the fumes aren't going away and as you say not enough air probably to save the people or blow the fumes away.I'm not saying it happened in that case, but with fog there is no breeze to carry the fumes away so it is plausible. Her sister was her world after her mom vanished and their dad died and they were both looking into the mom's case as adults. Every family member not only died, but died in an odd way. Must have been devastating.
These warnings are clearly not making it into the public domain. I have never heard of it, but now I have it does make sense. I guess that is why outboard motors always go on the rear of a boat. I am not a boater so I guess that's why i have never come across it. We have a boat club in my vicinity, which is on the estuary, and anyone operating or owning a boat keeps it there so presumably they would make sure members are all aware of such.your state

We would like to be more in the "lake people" category, but the lakes we like to go to are several hours away, so we don't get to go very often, but it's fairly common knowledge at the lake with posters at all the boat ramps, not that many look at it, but the info IS there if they would only look. Evidently many don't as we have about one death every summer in the state from it. They are finding out that some of the people that went off the boat and didn't surface were probably overcome with it and then drowned. These warnings are clearly not making it into the public domain. This is really sick.So they find him dead on Monday with wounds that are not consistent with suicide and he lives with his mother, but she was free on Tuesday to try to commit suicide and then they arrest her for his murder? Why was she even free on Tuesday is my question.

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — A St. Charles mother admitted to shooting and stabbing her 16-year-old son, then lying in bed next to him as he died, according to authorities.
Prosecutors on Tuesday charged Krista Roy with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Her son, Carter Bennett, was found dead on Monday by officers responding to a welfare check.
According to court documents, on both Sunday and Monday, friends asked St. Charles police to check on Bennett because they hadn't heard from him for several days, which was "highly unusual."
"They had dropped him off about 2 o'clock in he morning, I think on Saturday, and hadn't been able to get in touch with him. So they asked the police to go by and perform a welfare check to make sure that everything was OK," Prosecuting Attorney Joe McCulloch said.
Officers responding to the home on Monday smelled a foul odor.
The officers entered the home and found Bennett dead in his bed with multiple gunshot wounds and stab wounds. A knife with blood on it was lying on the bed next to him.
The friends who called police, who were "extremely close" with Bennett, said he "loved life" and was not suicidal, and described his mother as "strange" and minimally involved with his life. On Thursday, police identified the boy as Carter Bennett.
Officers learned Roy had allegedly attempted suicide earlier Tuesday and went to the hospital, where she was being treated. They took her into custody after her release and conducted a police interview.

"She confessed that she had obtained a pistol with the intent to kill her son and her self and that she shot him several times while he was sleeping in his bed," McCulloch said. "She then laid down with him because he was still alive, was caressing him and he was calling out her name, calling 'mommy, mommy.'"
She told authorities she then got up from the bed to get a knife and then stabbed him several times to put him "out of his pain."
When asked if she wanted to kill her son, she said, "Yeah," police said.
Officers executed a search warrant on Roy's ex-husband's home and found the suspected pistol used in the shooting. Court documents did not say how or when the gun was returned to the home.
Roy was being held on a $1 million cash-only bond.
"We are saddened to learn of the passing of a former student," the St. Charles School District shared. "Our hearts go out to the child's family, friends and all who loved him. Because he was no longer enrolled in our district, we did not send an email to families. However, we did alert staff members so they could provide care and connect students with counseling support if needed,"
I thought if a person was in an occupation that requires trust, the sentence is harsher. In fact, that judgement is even biblical!6 months!!!

It is a bit misleading as he is on probation for 10 years too. The crime was also 35 years ago and presumably there have been no more occurences in that time, hopefully. I guess we shall see if others come forward though.I thought if a person was in an occupation that requires trust, the sentence is harsher. In fact, that judgement is even biblical!
It's ALL in who you know and how much $$ you have, evidently.I thought if a person was in an occupation that requires trust, the sentence is harsher. In fact, that judgement is even biblical!
Doesn't matter how long ago or if there are more victims. It's still too light of a sentence. It is a bit misleading as he is on probation for 10 years too.
