Got my Masters degree from here. :(

Killer who stabbed 4 Idaho students to death still at large

The killer — or killers — who stabbed four University of Idaho students to death remained at large Tuesday, prompting many students to leave the campus in the idyllic small town despite police assurances that there was no imminent risk to the community.

So many students had left the scenic tree-lined campus in Moscow, Idaho, by Tuesday that university officials said a candlelight vigil scheduled for the next day would instead be held after the Thanksgiving break.

The students, all close friends, were found dead in an off-campus rental home around noon on Sunday, and officials said they likely were killed several hours earlier. Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt told the Spokane, Washington-based television station KXLY that her preliminary investigation showed the students were stabbed to death. There is no indication that substance use was involved in the deaths, Mabbutt said.

You're a bit behind like me. There's 3 pages of it that I missed. I was watching Wimbledon most of yesterday and Glasto over the weekend.
Is it true all the families are upset? I thought it was only the Goncalvez family.

I'm behind too, trying to catch up.

Just for the record, I am sure the families are upset. I'm also positive that Steve G is a ringleader. I feel horrible for them. They're 100% entitled to their feelings. But sometimes, you take the bye. It's still a win.

I just checked Idaho's death row inmates. They have carried out only three executions since 1977, the last was in 2012. They currently have nine people on death row with most being there for decades. One has been on death row for 42 years.

I hope the family's can understand that the death penalty is not a good option.

Thank you for looking into this! I was under the impression for some reason that they went through with their executions in a more timely manner.

I still haven’t changed my mind when I think the families should have a big say in a decision like this one. They lost the ultimate loss. However, we don’t know yet how each family was contacted. I respect different opinions and see where they are coming from.

So it looks like the prosecution met last week with some family members.

Looks like the Goncalves family was not among the family members prosecutors met with.

It's possible the prosecution felt that the Goncalves family was so angry with them for such a long period of time that it was unproductive to engage them face to face.

As usual in my case, I should’ve kept reading before I start posting ha ha.

The family needs to realize that just because the death penalty was on the table, doesn't mean he would have been convicted on it. They very well could have gone through all the horrors of trial to only get a life conviction and they would have gone through all of that for nothing, not even taking into consideration that it could have ended in mistrial or even the slight possibility of ñot guilty. They also need to realize that there are at least 3 more families that their thoughts and feelings should be taken into consideration.
Or he could’ve ended up like Casey Anthony! While I absolutely do not think that would’ve happened, I certainly didn’t think Casey would be walking around free right now, either!

I agree with everything you posted here. Sadly, from reading that message on Facebook, I think he’s going to take his anger out on the state of Idaho and it’s not going to be pretty.

Yes, they are entitled to their feelings but so are the other 3 sets of families. We haven't heard from them to know if they are elated or upset.

In that message he says one day he will share all about the State of ID. I don't doubt especially early on, that things weren't perfect. I recall him going on about no contact, not being provided with info and so on He likely does have some other complaints from throughout but still this was a good outcome.

Bad? What are they saying?
One post said the jury could have voted that BK was innocent. What? Others came across like they were upset their favorite TV show was just canceled. This case was pure entertainment for them and they are disappointed it's over.

Some are saying we will not know what happened now that there will not be a trial. Really? I kind of doubt that the State agreed to a deal where BK pleads guilty without having to say a word and all of the evidence against him will be sealed forever.

One said that the prosecution should have withdrawn the death penalty but still go ahead with a trial. That being the only way to get "fair" justice, whatever that means. I would assume that the Goncalves family would be even angrier at the prosecution and it would waste a bunch of time and money to maybe get to the same place.

There's a lot more crazy crap being posted. If I was still there I'm sure I would be on TO this morning.

Madison Mogen's father supports the plea deal.

But for Mogen, the plea deal is justice.

"We can actually put this behind us and not have these future dates and future things that we don't want to have to be at, that we shouldn't have to be at, that have to do with this terrible person," he said. "We get to just think about the rest of lives and have to try and figure out how to do it without Maddie and the rest of the kids."

The plea hearing is set for tomorrow. Will it only be BK changing his plea from not guilty to guilty? Will anything else be addressed or will that have to wait for his sentencing?

Sounds like a bunch of idiots.

Proceed to trial with no DP?? It isn't going to end in a better result than the deal without the DP. That's just dumb.

And he would NEVER be found not guilty. The case is too strong to get a total acquittal.

Yeah I've seen people with not just this trial but where it seems like pure entertainment to some people.

And every atty etc. I have watched says the gag order will be lifted and information released. They may hold back the death photos though, totally understandable.

Smh, I've ever missed that place.
