ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

Well, It isn't surprising. According the F.B.I. There is 25-50 active serial killers at any given time. We just don't hear about most of them. Like alot of them of the past, They weren't prolific enough due to certain reasons. Which is sad. Any killing of one person is enough.
Plus they don't want the public panicked even though the public should be warned and an area doesn't want to be seen as somewhere bad to live, to travel to etc. They often keep such suspicions under wraps which I entirely disagree with.

AUSTIN, Texas — In October 1993, Raul Meza was released from prison after only serving 11 years of his 30-year prison sentence for killing 8-year-old Kendra Page.
His early release sparked protests in Austin with people shouting, “We don’t want him in our neighborhood.”

WFAA’s Rebecca Lopez was in Austin when Meza came home to live with his mother. At that time, his mother said he had changed and would not kill again.

“I’m feeling hopeful for the future for me, and my family, and my son,” said Meza’s mother.

Meza himself later addressed the media.

“There is nothing I can do to change my past. I can only tell you in my heart I know that I will not willfully bring harm to anyone,” said Meza.

But police say Meza never changed his life or his ways, instead they believe he may have started killing again in 1996.

They are looking at up to 10 cold homicide cases.

“We don’t know how many people he killed, or he would have killed, so here is a serial killer that justice was not served. Travesty of justice,” said Bruce Mills, Austin asst. interim city manager.
Police launched an urgent manhunt last week after Meza’s 80-year-old roommate, Jesse Fraga, was stabbed to death in his North Austin home.
Yet they let him out after killing an 8 year old. Had a 30 year prison sentence only which isn't enough but even then only served 11 years of it. I know dam*ed well the general public does not agree with this sh*t SO WHY are they LETTING these types out of PRISON??? Why do they not serve out their terms??? Why in other cases is LIFE in prison not LIFE IN PRISON??? Why isn't EVERYONE YELLING about it in ONE voice??!!!

How MANY end up dead BECAUSE of such, because of them getting out???!!!!!!!!! OR alternatively getting a light sentence to begin with? But even when multiple life sentences they do come up for parole and they do eventually get out and they DO NOT serve life!!!

But he is still a practicing attorney. Unbelievable he isn't disbarred as the guests said. I'm not surprised though. There are many practicing who have deserved to be disbarred imo. But this one? Wow.

WARNING: CHILD ABUSE

Mom, boyfriend arrested after boy beaten, left unconscious for 2 days

Metro Atlanta

Clayton police described the boy’s condition as “extremely grave” as he suffers from a brain bleed, broken bones, a blood clot in his lung and severe bruising. The assault took place Sunday, police said, but the 6-year-old was not taken to the hospital until Tuesday.

The boy’s mother, 33-year-old Porshe Wells, was arrested Wednesday on multiple counts, including first- and second-degree child cruelty, contributing to the deprivation of a child and making false statements, police said. Her boyfriend, 36-year-old Napolean Ates, was arrested the day before and is accused of physically assaulting the child. He is facing charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and first-, second- and third-degree child cruelty, among other counts.

Police opened an investigation after officers were called to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Hughes Spalding Hospital on Tuesday when the boy was brought in still unconscious. Investigators conducted multiple interviews and learned that Ates believed Wells’ son stole $80 from him and gave it to their roommate .

Ates began beating the child in front of Wells, eventually leaving the boy bruised, unconscious and foaming at the mouth, police said. Wells initially told investigators she was not present at the time of the beating, then later revealed that Ates told her to leave the room after the assault started, police said. She told investigators she tried to revive the 6-year-old with a cold bath, but it was ineffective.

According to police, between Sunday and Tuesday afternoon, Wells went to work, got her nails done and “did her normal daily duties.”

Plus they don't want the public panicked even though the public should be warned and an area doesn't want to be seen as somewhere bad to live, to travel to etc. They often keep such suspicions under wraps which I entirely disagree with.
Well it's tricky with absolute evidence. Eventhough.....We have known that a few killers had been interviewed by LE during when the murders were occurring. YOU HAD THEM IN YOUR FACE! Some things are not good to release. Like "Richard Ramirez". They finally tracked his shoes to him. It was leaked on T.V. No one ever found those shoes. Luckily he was caught.

Omg. That is just so evil. They don't care. At all. Disturbing beyond. What this child went through. I hope they get life!

Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey’s trial for alleged sex offences is on track to see a jury sworn in on June 28, a court has heard.

Mr Justice Wall told a hearing at Coventry Crown Court that a second “overflow” courtroom would be set up at London’s Southwark Crown Court for Spacey’s trial, to accommodate members of the press and other interested parties.

Spacey was not required to attend Friday’s pre-trial hearing, which saw prosecutor Christine Agnew KC and defence counsel Patrick Gibbs KC both appear via videolink.

The court was told Mr Spacey had been given leave not to attend by the judge prior to the hearing.

During discussions about arrangements for the trial, Mr Justice Wall said: “A number of spaces are to be reserved for the press in the court itself and (in) the overspill court.”

Spacey, known for starring in American Beauty, The Usual Suspects and House Of Cards, denies a total of 12 charges relating to four men.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between 2001 and 2013.
