FL KAMRIE MITCHELL: Missing from Wellborn, FL - 25 August 2012 - Age 23

Mitchell was last seen in Wellborn, Florida on August 25, 2012. Early in the morning, while she was at her father's house in Lake City, Florida, Andrelo Larashard Witcher had entered the home uninvited. He threatened Mitchell and others in the home with a weapon and stole some of Mitchell's prescription medications.

A photo of Witcher is posted with this case summary. Mitchell went to the police, who issued a warrant for Witcher's arrest, but he was still at large when she disappeared later that same day.

Mitchell's white four-door 1992 Pontiac Grand Am disappeared with her. She had been known to drop out of sight for a few days at a time when she got upset, but she always kept in touch with her family to check on the welfare of her daughter. Her family reported her missing on September 2.

Over a week after Mitchell's disappearance, her car was found submerged along a roadway on 184th Street in Suwannee County, near the Columbia County line. The road had been flooded since June. Her cellular phone and purse were inside the vehicle.

In mid-September, Witcher was located and arrested on charges of burglary while armed, possession of a weapon by a felon, and failure to comply with his sex offender registration. He had a violent relationship with his girlfriend, Heather MacCrossen, who disappeared in 2007 and was never found.

The Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office continues the search for a woman missing since 2012.

Sunday, Sheriff St. John, the family of Kamrie Mitchell, Jason Futch and others gathered to renew the search effort. The group joined together on 184th Street in Suwannee County to place a sign seeking the community’s help in answering questions for Kamrie’s family and for law enforcement working her case.

The sheriff’s office added that Kamrie is still listed as a missing/endangered person. They added that foul play is suspected in her disappearance. Numerous leads and information have been followed up on over the years, however law enforcement and Kamrie’s family still do not have the answers they would like to have.

In a Facebook post from Sunday, Sheriff St. John said the men and women of the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office are actively continuing to look into and investigate Kamrie’s case.

It was an honor to be able to help out on this project. It was about a two hour long work day. Signs take a lot more than attaching a sign to it lol. Sheriff St. John actually dug the hole to place the sign in, and we decided to put Quickcrete in the hole so the sign will stay in place and not be removed.

I felt compelled to do this because of the event we are holding in Branford on May 1st dedicated to her case. I drove out to the road and saw the faded sign that was on a telephone pole that Kamrie's mother places twice a year: on Kamrie's birthday and on the anniversary of her disappearance. I felt as though Kamrie deserved a more permanent memorial. When I shared with detectives my idea at the sheriff's office, they were immediately and without question game to help me with this.

What was even better was the help we received from Kamrie's family. Her mother drove all the way from Ocala and joined us to put the sign up. After we put the sign up, we said a prayer in hopes that soon, Kamrie would be located.

We also put together a PSA in hopes that it would compel someone to come forward with information regarding Kamrie Mitchell's case.
