Galloway was last seen leaving his home in Sonora, California on January 13, 2016. He has never been heard from again. The weather on the night of his disappearance was very cold and he left underdressed for the weather; he didn't even have a jacket on.

Since Galloway's disappearance, he hasn't accessed his bank accounts. His phone was turned off thirty minutes after he left the house, and was never turned back on. He is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served from 2000 to 2003, and he left behind two young children.

Galloway is originally from Santa Cruz, California and may have been sighted in that area after his disappearance. His mother believes he may have had a mental illness episode or lost his memory. His case remains unsolved.

Sheriff’s Office Investigation Into Crystal Falls Missing Man

The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office is releasing new details about a missing person case.

We first reported about missing person Troy Galloway in January of 2016. A local veteran, he left his home in the Crystal Falls area six years ago and has not been seen since. His family put up a $1,000 reward back then for information on his whereabouts. New clues in an ongoing investigation lead the sheriff’s office to believe that Galloway’s remains are likely in the lake. Officials are working with the Crystal Falls Association to drain the lake. We’ll pass along more information as it becomes available. Be prepared for activity in that area this weekend. No additional information is immediately available.

Crystal Falls Lake Being Investigated for Evidence Relating to Troy Galloway’s 2016 Disappearance

From the TCSO…”Our Investigations Division is working with the Crystal Falls Association to have Crystal Falls Lake drained as part of the ongoing investigation into the 2016 disappearance of Troy Galloway. Through the continued investigation, our detectives have reason to believe evidence of Mr. Galloway’s disappearance is likely to be found in this location.

That back tattoo is disturbing.

Sheriff’s officials update, “Two weeks ago, detectives began the search of the lakebed. After a search spanning six days, no human remains were found. The search included an ROV submersible sonar scan when the lake was full, Ground Penetrating Radar and a digging operation.”

Despite not locating Galloway, the Sheriff’s Office reports that the search was meaningful, and thanks various community partners who assisted with the effort.
