Woman escapes kidnapper in Excelsior Springs, MO - Linked to other cases?

No offense to those that live there but WTH is going on in Missouri? This makes me think of the other one, the Rainwater case. Both hint of women held hostage and tortured and of multiple victims. There has been talk since Rainwater of a lot of missing teens/women there, etc. This poor woman was terrified and clearly held. Just the details out are horrible and the hints are there of far worse details of what she suffered. She also talks of her "friends" not making it...

Police visited home of Excelsior Springs kidnapping, rape suspect 3 times in past year

Excelsior Springs police visited the home of Timothy Haslett Jr., the man accused of raping and holding a woman against her will, three times in the past year.

The KSHB I-Team asked for a log of calls to Haslett's home in the 300 block of Old Orchard Road in Excelsior Springs. The request revealed two of the three calls were to check on Haslett's wellbeing.

Police said of the two wellbeing calls, one stemmed from Haslett's dad, who lives out of state. The second check originated after one of Haslett's co-workers became concerned when he didn't show up for work.

Those calls took place on Nov. 23, 2021 and Dec. 31, 2021.

A third call on July 5, 2022, was connected to an animal control concern to an off-leash dog at the home.

Police arrested Haslett on Oct. 7 after a woman escaped his home and told police she'd been kidnapped, whipped and raped repeatedly by Haslett. The woman said she was held in a small room in Haslett's basement, that police said Haslett built himself.

Police made the initial arrest on the premise of an animal-related issue.

Chief Grant Hull with the Excelsior Springs Police Department said no other reports were made in regards to the welfare checks to Haslett's home. It's not clear if police ever came face-to-face with Haslett during those visits.

In relation to the kidnapping and rape allegations, Hull told the I-Team, detectives removed several bags of evidence from Haslett's home. Though, he said he could not elaborate on what they took due to the ongoing investigation.

On Tuesday, a judge entered a not guilty plea for Haslett while Haslett waits to be appointed a public defender.

Haslett will be back in court on Oct. 18 for a bond hearing.

Prosecutor asks anyone with info on Excelsior Springs rape, kidnapping case to come forward

Prosecutors, investigators and community members still have unanswered questions one week after a woman banged on neighbors’ doors for help in Excelsior Springs. A days-long investigation followed.

Timothy Haslett Jr. is charged with rape, kidnapping and second-degree assault after a woman told police she escaped being held hostage in his basement since September.

On Oct. 7, the 22-year-old woman with a metal collar with a padlock on it and duct tape around her neck asked strangers for help. Neighbors called 911 and let her inside a nearby home until police arrived.

Investigators took Haslett Jr. into custody when he returned to the home where he lived off Old Orchard Avenue. Then a methodical search of the property began.

“We are devoting all the resources we can to finding out exactly what happened in Excelsior Springs and holding the person responsible, for what we know so far, accountable,” Clay County Prosecutor Robert Sanders said. “We have several prosecutors assigned to work on this. There’s a wide range of investigators we’ve gained the assistance of to work on this case.”

Sanders said police and prosecutors are exploring all evidence to determine what information they still need to uncover. “Are there additional victims? That’s always something we explore in any case like this,” Sanders said. “Run down every lead to determine whether there is somebody else who may have been victimized and may need our help. It’s always something we have to check off the list.”

The search warrant return that details what investigators seized from the home has been sealed for at least 30 days. Prosecutors are asking community members to speak up if they have information about the investigation.

“You might think you know something that is completely irrelevant, but we are always looking for background information,” Sanders said. “Looking for anyone who might have had any contact with anyone involved or the locations involved.”

The woman reported that a man named Timothy picked her up off Prospect in Kansas City in September before holding her captive inside the Excelsior Springs home.

Missouri Highway Patrol has the listings for missing people.

I've been all over it and there are not very many black females within the last year or so listed from our area. Were they not listed? There are several underage that somewhat fit, but the ages are about 12-14, but the lady that was saved was very small, so that might make the young ones fit. OR has KCPD not been listing them or were they not formally reported as missing?

There are a few white female adults that could fit, but the claim was that it was black females missing after last being known to be on or near Prospect that LE was dismissing.

Well, this might explain why KCPD didn't take them seriously AND why I can't find them on the missing person's list

claiming that they were right to dismiss the concerns as rumors because they had not received any formal missing person reports

Yeah that's what you said before.

It's now coming out that either KCPD wouldn't take the reports for these ladies or the family's didn't report them for what ever reason, so they are actually correct IF they are only looking into the actual reported missing person's cases. Key words being "missing persons reports".

I sure would like more info about why they aren't being reported. Are people only complaining and not actually filing reports? Is filling a report being denied? If so, why? It does touch on that sometimes there just isn't enough info known about these ladies because nobody knows anything about them other than their street name, but where are their family's/loved ones? Are they actually listed from another city or state?

Maybe people call it in but when told to come down and fill out a report they don't want to? Or they tell someone else and ask them to tell LE and they want a first person report? Maybe if their lives aren't pristine or they have a warrant or something, they try to let them know someone is missing but not directly?

That's what I would like to know is IF they were ever reported by anybody and if they were, why wasn't it listed? I am sure there are some good reasons, but what were the reasons and who tried to report them and were denied? Just one side blaming the other isn't doing anything. Let's get to the actual reasons and people that were supposedly denied. I've only heard of them telling people their concerns, but not to actual file the reports. What kind of red tape are they being held up against if they did? I have no reason to not believe them though, just need more info on both sides and what might need to be changed or info needed for the people to get a report filed.

I can also see how they would need more info if the reporting person only knew her by her street name but no other personal info about them. The report would simply read "Chelsea" "black female about 20-25 and possibly last known clothing and very likely no pics. I can also see them not wanting to because of their John. I can also see them not wanting to to bring attention to themselves and why they know this info. Not much to work with in this environment and valid reasons why an official report isn't being made.

Yeah I'd like to know the reason too.

Not saying it is right but just say someone missing is a prostitute and another prostitute isn't going to want to go in the cop shop. But they care so they anonymously call or ask someone else to tell the cops. OR they don't even know the real name or they do but worry if the person isn't missing, she will get upset if someone told the law her real name and don't want her mad at them.

All conjecture on my part but then LE probably says they need the name or need someone who actually KNEW her or met her or to come in to provide more info and they don't want to for various reasons.

While I do think LE should look further into it if that is the case, I guess they have to also try to screen real reports and calls from a wild goose chase. Or are going by a protocol and need info that isn't being provided.

BUT I don't know any of that is the case. So yeah, I'd like to hear their reasons because if someone did actually report them WHY aren't they listed, etc.?

I should have read further. I just said something somewhat similar in response to your other post.
