Woman escapes kidnapper in Excelsior Springs, MO - Linked to other cases?

No offense to those that live there but WTH is going on in Missouri? This makes me think of the other one, the Rainwater case. Both hint of women held hostage and tortured and of multiple victims. There has been talk since Rainwater of a lot of missing teens/women there, etc. This poor woman was terrified and clearly held. Just the details out are horrible and the hints are there of far worse details of what she suffered. She also talks of her "friends" not making it...

What are you talking about? The word prospect is never used in the article.
Ooops wrong post. It was for the Excelsior Springs case. I'm not sure why the one for ADHD posted. This isn't the article I was trying to post, but has some of the new info except for how they stopped him. It must be on the computer at work as I can't find it here on mine.

They also just showed a live shot and wow, Excelsior Springs PD is not messing around! They had the entire property fenced off with temporary fencing, not the standard 'crime scene' tape. Actual fencing.
Yeah they apologized to nearby residents and told them it was going to be some time but was necessary and to please understand or such in so many words.

They also haven't mentioned where she was from. This bugs me to no end with my thoughts of wondering where I've heard his name from and if it was from a trucking company. I know that name, but can't figure out from where, but when you do payroll and payables, you see so many names.
The only thing I know about her is they apparently reached her family pretty quickly and they were with her. And it is said she is a young black woman. I should keep reading as I will probably catch up on further posts and see that more is known.

They were going to the extent of using a secure anti-tamper tape around the boarded up windows and doors. They seem very concerned on leaving it for possible further evidence gathering, possibly waiting on testing to come back for things that were out of the scope of the first search. I'm glad to see it, especially with her statement about more possible victims and them finding no evidence of them on that search.

Impressed. I've got to say with what we see these days put up by defense and courts pandering to it, they need to prove everything, that no one could have tampered with the place, the evidence, left DNA, etc.

I still can't get over Morphew. They got a whole nation and judge to believe something entirely false with DNA. Doesn't say much for those who are in office who should understand and keep up with things or if they can't get someone to help that can.

This is a tiny little town, too, but they are also using our CSI unit. Smart enough to know they needed help and didn't try to get all macho about it like a some do. So glad to see that.

This is the case that Haslett reminds me of and makes me wonder if they really do just need more info as to why that house is secured so well. I have a weird, 6 degrees of separation kind of thing this this dude too. shudder

Enough to know that they have the date for Robert Sheldon wrong. That had to have been mid 1986 to the very end of 1987 because of knowing where his last paycheck that he did not pick up was and it had to have been in that time. Most likely towards the end of 1987.

He also had a really cool, weird shop a friend of mine and I went to a few times that was next to a cool little diner. The first time he was really cool and had cool stories about some of the items he had. Definitely an odd duck, but didn't seem anything but a guy with a weird fascination. The next time we went in there it was creepy. Can't really put a real reason to it, but we were both ready to leave pretty quick. I like weird, but this was waaaaaaay too weird. We did not go back.

Here's a link to the Missouri Missing Persons list. You can click on the date to sort them by when they were reported missing. I see a few names that I will be looking for coming up. The Gladstone and Independence ones are local enough. They are part of the metro area.

Yeah the territorial thing is really noticeable in recent times and seeing it a lot in cases. JUSTICE is what SHOULD matter and the departments I think the most of are the ones that know that. It shows how smart they are to call in what is needed and do as needs to be done while they do their part. No one can keep up with the times and tech and more. It isn't possible for anyone. And then they are constricted by budgets and more. Take advantage of what is out there or offered, if trustworthy. Call the state, call the feds. Bonus points for doing so. Imho.

yet more scary info coming out. I had heard that there were possibly more victims, but hadn't heard how that info came about

Holy chit. It still reminds me of Lake and Ng. This is awful. And to think there are more victims. We may now have discovered the latest serial killer. I have a feeling this is going to be a horror show. The good part is he can't do it again. Sad part. It's too late. I can't wait to hear his criminal record. He's got to have one. And I bet they were violent. Or sex offenses. I fear the worst here. In my stomach.

Excelsior Springs is just outside of the metro to the north east.
I knew I had remembered Excelsior Springs making the news a while back but couldn't remember what, so I started looking back through their little paper and now wondering if possibly this is going to be connected

Come to think of it, we were just wondering about this case not too long ago and finding no updates. Ray County is basically 'just down the road' from Excelsior.

I keep coming back to this "rumor" that had been floating around of a serial killer running around and KCPD quashing it near the time this lady was picked up and her claim that he killed her friends. Both could be true as in possibly him being one BUT not actually KCPDs jurisdiction. It sure makes what we are witnessing about the crime scene preservation make sense to me.
