Alexis was last seen with her 5-month-old son, Messiah Morales, and they were in her silver 2006 BMW X5 SUV. Elkhart County Police say the license plate number is MULA LUV. An image of the vehicle was released Thursday afternoon.

Alexis told friends she was going back to her residence in New Paris.

Family of missing mom and son ask community for help

A mother and her 5-month-old baby are missing, and the family is asking for the communities help in finding her.

Alexis Morales (27) and her 5-month-old son Messiah were last seen at Kelly Park around 7 pm on April 12th.

She was enjoying a cookout with friends at the park before she told them she was heading home to her residence in New Paris to feed her son.

But when her mother woke up for work the following day, she realized her daughter had never made it home.

“This is unnormal; this is not like her. She would have called me at least or dropped the baby off to me if she wanted to go out and have more fun. I mean, I’ve never had her phone off like this for three days, and like we just cannot get a hold of her. No phone calls, no nothing. She hasn’t got in contact with none of her friends. So, I don’t know where they could be, and if you just have any tips, please help me find my two babies,” said Sandra Piggie, mother of Alexis and Grandma of Messiah.

Search continues for missing Elkhart woman and her five month old baby

The search continues for a missing Elkhart woman and her five month old baby. Alexis Morales and her son Messiah were last seen leaving Kelly Park in South Bend on Tuesday evening. Her family and friends gathered back at the park earlier today to ask the community for help getting answers in the pair's disappearance.

“We just want a safe return for Messiah and Alexis,” says a cousin of Alexis'.

The family and friends of Alexis Morales and her baby Messiah are praying that they will soon get the answers that they deserve. Alexis and Messiah have been missing since Tuesday evening, making four days without any word from her. Which family and friends say is out of her character.

“She texts us twenty four hours a day. That’s all day, every day," says one of Alexis' best friends, Raven McKinstry. "As soon as her and baby Messiah get up and she gets him dressed, it’s a thousand pictures of them. And it’s been four days and it’s been nothing, like, it’s strange.”

Her loved ones find her disappearance hard to believe, and they are becoming more concerned with each day passing.

“You can come home, man. You know that we all love you and we want you to return," says brother of Alexis, Christopher James Jr. "You know, we worry about you.”

“Man, I want my son, man," says Messiah's father, Thadius Loftin. "I’m concerned bro, I don’t know how to think, you know what I’m saying. I can’t eat man, I need my son.”

Not only is everyone concerned for the pair's safety, but they are frustrated with what they say is a lack of attention from law enforcement.

“I feel like they’re not doing anything," says Sandra Piggie, Alexis' mother. "They keep coming to me and keep saying that they can’t track her phone; there’s no cameras in the area that they think she could’ve been.”

“We tried asking if they could put an Amber Alert on my son, and they said, 'well the son’s with the mother, so we assume that it’s okay,'" says Loftin.

After passing out hundreds of flyers and driving hours on highways looking for any sign of the missing mother and son, family and friends are looking to the community for any help they can give.

“I need you all to help me search," Loftin says. "It’s a big city, I can’t walk alone. I need help, I need help. I’ve been out here for four days, trying to help, trying to find her, driving up and down.”

No, at least not the first one. It's copied directly into the text of the OP.

Alexis' Facebook page:

She posted a LOT on the 12th. The picture in the OP of Messiah in the yellow shirt is from the 12th. She seems to post a LOT on FB in general. And now nothing.

An Elkhart woman and her baby who had been reported missing and were last seen on April 12 were found in a vehicle on the west side of South Bend on Tuesday evening. The mother, 27-year-old Alexis Morales, was found dead, while her child, 5-month-old Messiah Morales, was apparently unharmed.

Police did not say how Alexis Morales might have died. Officers did transport Messiah Morales to the hospital and are working with the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department to investigate the events leading up to the woman's disappearance and death.

:thud:

The baby is still alive? That's great news...but how? I wonder how long his mom has been deceased?

Death of missing Elkhart woman, 27, considered homicide, infant son still hospitalized

The death of an Elkhart woman found in a vehicle in South Bend Tuesday evening is being investigated as a homicide, police said Wednesday. Her 5-month-old son found in the vehicle with her is still hospitalized.

South Bend Police Chief Scott Ruszkowski on Wednesday did not say how Alexis Morales might have died, deferring to an autopsy that was scheduled for Friday.

South Bend Police Capt. Jason Biggs responded when asked why the case was being considered a homicide: "It was clear, immediately, while dealing with processing the scene and seeing Alexis, it was clear that it became a homicide scene," he said.

First responders who discovered the SUV and found Messiah Morales inside the vehicle, "gave him some love," investigators said, and rushed him to Memorial Hospital. Police declined to release details on his condition, saying that he was at the hospital with his family.

Police provided few other details and wouldn't elaborate on other aspects of the investigation other than to say detectives were interviewing a large number of people.

Alexis' autopsy is set for Friday, while Messiah is in stable condition at the hospital and is with family, police reported.

"Posts circulating on social media that suggest our department was aware of the vehicle's location prior to the discovery of Alexis and Messiah on Tuesday evening are untrue," the release said, adding that the SBPD Violent Crimes Unit has interviewed several individuals regarding the case. "It’s still too early to determine how long Alexis and Messiah were in the vehicle."
