A North Carolina police officer is accused by federal prosecutors of selling cocaine while he was in uniform, the U.S. Department of Justice said Thursday.

On Jan. 24, Rodriguez allegedly met with a confidential informant and sold them cocaine for $2,600 in cash, Easley said, adding that he drove to the meeting in his patrol car, while in uniform and carrying his department firearm.

Raleigh Police Chief Estella Patterson said Rodriguez is on administrative leave without pay pending the outcome of internal and federal investigations. Patterson said Rodriguez has been with the department since 2018, WTVD reported.
 
Interesting concept for a thread. I have thought of starting one something on the order of ridiculous laws, too long of waits for trial, victim's rights, coddling of defendants, never ending appeals, inadequate sentencing, outrage at some offenders even being released, stiffer penalties for some things and too long of sentences for others, or something on that order--what we would change or think laws should be... Just haven't refined the thought as to what to call it or make it... It would likely have to be a few different threads...

As far as this thread, there are cases that would fit, past and present. Chauvin/Floyd, Murdaugh, McDaniels/Arbery, Vanessa Guillen just off of the top of my head... People with power, money or prestige would be another and that would also fit Murdaugh, Epstein, Weinstein and so many more...
 
Murdaugh already is and will continue to turn out to be one for the ages and all those related to it... Cops, judges, bankers, drugs, corruption to the highest levels, all the way up and who knows how far down... The whole state of SC is suspect (at least those in power) due to this story if you ask me... And I'll bet it goes beyond that... A century at least of this family...

Vanessa Guillen and all the others at Fort Hood... So many other examples... How about jocks and who you are in rape cases at colleges... Who your family is... Or who has the money to bribe...

The old system needs to change that's for sure and for those who think it has, oh it so hasn't... There is new thinking and younger and I think the masses feel as we do but it comes up against the entrenched few... And half the ones entering are brought into the other... Much of it has even slipped backwards... The funny thing is the public always knows it... The locals do... We do about bigger government... People knew about Murdaugh... It was blatant almost... And they knew not a darned thing could be done about it because so MANY in power were involved or any time someone naively thought things are just and trusted or tried to go up against it oh boy... People learn in cases like that just keep your mouth shut, you can't change it...

BUT what IS changing...? The speed and help one can get with internet and getting the story out there, video cams, body cams, security cams... One party legal recordings now in many states... People with cell phones and videos... Going viral... Document everything...

AND we ARE seeing it. Not fast enough and not fair enough but Arbery... Floyd... And yet it still goes on... It did in those cases. You know they would have been shoved under the rug otherwise and such was tried... Body cams come and how often have we heard before these cases even oh it wasn't working, oh I forgot to turn it on... Documents disappear, discovery does, security footage does, oh there is no transcript or recording... Lo and behold, we didn't record that interrogation...

A jury can be fair but what is allowed in a case by the judge or disallowed can mean they don't hear this or that...

On the other hand, cops and judges do need to be able to maintain some control and power too... And there are some good ones... There is probably a rare good politician or too as well... At least at first...

But there will always be the bad ones... There will always be corruption and people turn a blind eye to it not wanting those with their power picking on their own... And so it gets ever more blatant... OR body cams come, etc. and the new excuse has to be come up with... It isn't working so well any longer but it still does... They find new ways or try to... But once in awhile a case gets notice and attention comes and people yell as one voice.... Or someone ensures a video gets seen and hits the web...

The tides are turning although slowly... People now have a voice that travels far and fast... And people are still scared to get involved but taking some heart... And you watch, that will be stifled...

I was due to wax on and do a long one... Anywho.... If I could only take time to cook... :D

So disturbing. True story -- A few years ago, DS2 went to the gym late one night with his friend and they drove separately. After they got out, friend sat in our car with DS2 and they were talking about friend's GF drama. Friend got into his car and left and then LE pulled up outside our car. Officer had been watching them from afar and thought they had been smoking weed in our car, told DS he smelled like marijuana. Questioned why the friend left and DS said he just went home. DS told the officer he could search the car and the officer didn't. Officer told him he was out after curfew which was a lie. He followed DS home and DS woke me up to tell me what happened.

Always great to have the late night wake ups/calls. NOT :)

When I was in HS, we had just moved as in only a day or two earlier to a little town that was still local to the city, but a town of it's own. We had been working on packing/unpacking all day (it was a Saturday) and my parents had went to bed early. It was about 9pm ish and I was outside, sitting on the tailgate of my dad's truck so I didn't keep them awake, waiting for my friend to stop by after she got off of work. I had been warned about this cop that had it in for kids in general and warned that it was guaranteed I would be stopped by him at some point. He drove by and did stop, which I didn't think was going to be an issue since i was doing absolutely nothing wrong. He refused to believe me and why I was where I was. Finally I told him I would be glad to go in and wake up my dad and how absolutely the joy he would be showing to him for this nonsense and started heading to the door. He then suddenly decided that he didn't want me to do that and left. He spent probably 15-20 minutes trying to get me to admit I was stealing from the house and up to no good.

He finally tried to bust a party that was being attended to by the school orchestra kids and the dad of the kid throwing it was home and part of the county sherrifs's office and there was no drinking or drugs happening. He was fired shortly after that.

We live in a small town also. Showed that vid to DS2 earlier and we talked about the gym parking lot encounter he had. Totally forgot the officer had told him our tag was expired (it wasn't) and that he was giving son a warning about it. And, the officer drove 6ish miles outside his jurisdiction to follow son home. Not to our house, but til he turned into our neighborhood. All meant to just intimidate him, a 17yo boy. Luckily, he didn't get arrested. Pisses me off!! DS2 said, imagine if I was black. Sad, but true :(

A Las Vegas police officer who was arrested last month for attempting to rob a casino on The Strip has been charged this week in federal court in connection with two other casino robberies, U.S. prosecutors said.

The federal criminal complaint filed Friday accuses Caleb Rogers, 33, of arming himself in three heists dating back to November with the same .357-caliber service revolver that belonged to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.

Rogers, who has been a Las Vegas officer since 2015, is accused of stealing at least $90,000 during the three holdups, including nearly $79,000 when he demanded money at the cashier cage at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino’s sportsbook on Feb. 27.

Wow, this isn't crimes necessarily but this is quite something. Even though the parties may not be perfect, the judges in this are over the top with their power. I've only seen two so far and it's quite something. It came up in my feed on A & E.

These are all worth watching but OMG go to ten minutes in if you can't watch it all right now. A judge loses it almost immediately with a public defender who won't waive rights of the defendant and apparently is upset as his calendar is backed up. A remark is made about taking it outside and they do. AND a physical fight ensues and can be heard in the courtroom!! Un-flipping-believable.
 
And the last one??? The drunk female judge from Ohio?? My God. Doesn't she think she is somebody and untouchable? And no ending of whether she is on the bench yet or anything else was done or not!!

They are all worth watching.

It sure seems that way unless it just hasn't been handled yet (I didn't catch the date). At least the others did get in trouble or at least some. I would HOPE that female judge's time is coming shortly but hard to say, her fine and jail time were reduced in short order... This stuff should be blasted all over the internet and more.

I know but a lot of people, a ton, watch different things or aren't into crime, etc. or don't watch TV. I mean spread it, share it, etc. I'm not on social media but if I ever get on or back on it is the type of thing I'd share the sh*t out of is all I'm saying.

That drunk judge for instance, I didn't know about her or any of the others prior to watching this A & E show.
