Police seem to be no closer to finding 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan than they were when this story began months ago.

Since that time, the story has gained international attention as it’s taken twists and turns involving a purported cult, dead spouses, delusions of divinity and preparing for the end of the world. Despite all the angles, and the ever-growing number of people related to the case, the facts remain essentially the same as when it was first announced.

The two children remain missing and the parents, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, refuse to disclose their whereabouts to police. Both have been named persons of interest in the disappearance of the children. Law enforcement is also investigating the deaths of the Daybells’ previous respective spouses, Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell, though neither Chad nor Lori have been named suspects in those cases.

Back to Melani's trespassing video...

She wouldn't have been cited if she just would have shut up and left. It was only after the officer went into the house for a wellness check that he decided to cite her! And right after checking on them! I have to wonder what the Boudreaux's said to him. And even after that, she wasn't convinced they were HER children. What a piece of work!

Okay, I see in the second video that she was formally arrested because she criminally entered her in-law's garage. I didn't realize that happened. Again, there's SO MUCH going on in this case!

So do I! Why else would Alex be with her when she was trespassing? Body guard!
Bodyguard or who knows even killer, kidnapper, etc... From what we know now from his ex-wife he had hoped to provoke Joe so he could say self defense or claim it anyhow, Charles he did claim it...

Part of their many overall plots imo concerning killing Brandon, life insurance, Charles, life insurance, her kids, Lori's kids and more AND it was the three of them in Rexburg in apartments...

As you know, the Mels bother me. They are both too strong to be just Lori's groupies... they put on sweet "normaL' fronts but when crossed, one can see the fangs come out imo...

I've reserved my opinion of Melanie Gibb. But Melani B then P? I believe she's in the middle of it ALL! Full stop.

I understand and I'm not saying there is necessarily enough to convict either, nor that I can prove it, just an opinion. For me, Mel G. and David were there when JJ disappeared basically. And their stories don't cut it and in fact when sequestered, their stories did not match as to a thing or two when testifying separately. I'm not necessarily saying she was "hands on" but not sure they weren't or didn't help as cover or disposing but I believe they at least knew, could have stopped it and didn't and I even think there is more to it... She never even seemed to care or wonder where Tylee was who was dead by then. There's just a lot that doesn't add up... And just the odds of them being up to Rexburg for some Mormon or BYU thing on the very days JJ went missing and even staying there is a bit beyond what I can believe would just be coincidental... This was an apartment, not a mansion... I guess it's just too much for me to buy is what I mean.

To me no one who planned to kill their kid would decide to do it while guests are present when they could wait for another day... But again jmo.

"We're LDS, and so she started listening to podcasts and some people who were LDS and have now been excommunicated from our church, she started following them and started saying some really weird things," said Adam Cox, Lori's brother. "Some of those things were that she talks to Jesus in the temple and she's married to Moroni, and she's not married to Charles anymore, and she has a higher priesthood than the rest of us."

Investigators on the case believe Lori and Chad justified the murders with their religious beliefs. Lori was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but Adam said her beliefs started to stray from the Book of Mormon--and reality--after meeting Chad in 2018.

"For Lori to say that she goes to the temple and talks to Jesus Christ and she's on a special mission here to gather 144,000 people and that she's married to Moroni and she has to do whatever it is to make sure her mission gets completed, which could be killing Charles or anybody getting in the way of her mission, it's literally nonsense," Adam told the Chandler police detective.

Investigators discovered text messages between Lori and Chad and other people who shared their beliefs. The couple claimed to have powers to "cast" dark spirits out of people.

"That's what the whole idea is, if there is an evil spirit in you, then you ask in the name of Christ to have the spirit leave; that's what it's about," said Melanie Gibb.

Gibb, at one point, believed in Chad and Lori's so-called powers. Once Lori and Chad asked her to lie about where JJ was, she cut ties and came forward to the police with what she knew.

"Chad would help groom her into these beliefs and ideas, 'you're the most powerful woman in the world,' or whatever," Gibb explained."

Some of the text messages show Lori texting Zulema Pastenes, who eventually married her brother Alex. One text said, "let's put some fire energy towards Hiplos now. I can do it spiritually. Let's go to him and hover over the truck till we do it."

Detectives learned "Hiplos" was the name they gave Charles before his death. Other texts show Lori talking about summoning earthquakes and removing weapons from people that were under attack by evil spirits.

"It was Lucifer himself," she wrote. "I am told he is now banished from AZ."

Detectives also learned not only did Lori believe she had priesthood powers, but they say she and Chad also made Alex think he was put on this earth to protect her and help carry out her missions.

"Alex is excommunicated from the church, and so he believes Lori. Lori's like, 'it doesn't matter what you do in this world, all you have to do is have a body, and you can be saved. You're just here to get a body.' And Al loves that because then he can go sin and do whatever he wants. So he loves to hear what Lori has to tell them," Adam said.

I just don’t understand how she could have just all the sudden turned crazy because she met Chad. Just doesn’t make sense to me.
Maybe there is an underlying mental health issue. Since we aren't privy to or on a need to know basis, there has to be a legal reason Judge Boyce extended her stay in a state facility for an additional 180 days. Since Idaho does not have an insanity plea, she will have to face trial, eventually.

The fact she still in there is very curious to me. Usually the insanity defense is only if they didn’t know what they were doing was wrong. Is that the case here? Because she certainly Knew it was wrong when she didn’t tell authorities what happened to the children.

The case here is she has been found incompetent to aid in her defense. There is no insanity defense in Idaho. The only goal is to get her competent enough to stand trial.

I'm guessing they want the public defender to sign as well as Mark Means on any filing to prevent an "ineffective counsel" claim later by having a competent attorney have to sign as well. I doubt though a competent attorney would sign something or put his name on it if Means is misconstruing the law and rules of representation of his client...

Will they ever proceed with the trial process for Lori? Sigh...

Yes when she is deemed competent again.
