Around 11:00 am on March 17, 2015 a passerby saw a tennis shoe sticking out of the ground near a walking trail just north of the Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City, NV. The responding Investigators discovered human remains wrapped in a sleeping bag buried in a shallow grave. An autopsy determined the unidentified deceased was a small, white female between the ages of 42 and 71; 4’6 to 5’3 inches tall; and having reddish blonde hair. The woman was fully clothed wearing a long-sleeve, camo-print thermal type shirt; loose gray elastic waist band sweat pants; and dark colored cargo pants. On December 30, 2006 the body of a White/Caucasian male was discovered on the side of the road along northbound Interstate 65 near mile marker 95, east of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. The man was dressed in a red plaid, insulated flannel shirt; faded blue jeans; black belt; gray polo shirt; and State Street brand brown shoes, size 11. Investigators found no information that would identify the man. Upon forensic autopsy officials determined the deceased was 50-70 years old, 6′ 0″ tall, weighing an estimated 140 lbs. On March 10, 2019 a homeowner walking near Douglas Lake in Dandridge, Tennessee reported seeing a suspicious bag next to the lake shore. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies determined the bag, which turned out to be a golf bag, contained human remains. The Regional Forensic Center in Knoxville was unable to provide much information about the deceased other than he was a male of uncertain race/ethnicity, possibly white, an estimated 5′ 7″-5′ 10″ tall, and an adult less than 40-years-old. A black Walking Dead t-shirt and a leather belt stamped with the name “Gerald” found with the remains were not helpful in identifying the deceased. The case is being treated as a homicide. On July 24, 2000 the partially skeletonized remains of an older man were found floating in the Atlantic Ocean between Maine and Canada 27 nautical miles off Jonesport, Maine. He was unrecognizable due to insect/animal activity. Forensic scientists determined he was White/Caucasian, possibly of mixed race, 6’2, estimated 170-190 lbs. with a thin build, and gray or partially gray hair. On October 24, 1997 the body of a woman of uncertain race was found in Lake Michigan against the break wall in Manistee, Michigan. The woman was 5’11” and weighed approximately 200 lbs. The post mortem examination revealed she had an appendectomy scar and an orthodontic bracket for her upper central incisors (front teeth). Her ears were pierced, and she was wearing one clear stone earring. The woman, who was between 20 and 60 years old, died a number of weeks before being found. On June 1, 2018 authorities recovered a deceased infant floating off the coast of Boynton Beach Inlet in Palm Beach County, Florida. The infant may have floated up from as far south as Broward County. The infant was determined to be female and her race is possibly biracial, black or Hispanic.
