Search continues for Winter Springs mother of 4, last seen with estranged husband accused of attempted murder

"All I know is, we don't know where she's at and her mom is concerned about her whereabouts," said Pastor Gary Chatman about a woman in Winter Springs who has been missing since Saturday.

The family minister was asking both the police and the public for help in the search for 37-year-old Shakeira Rucker, even sharing a missing person's flier.

Rucker's estranged husband, Cory Hill, was in front of an Orange County Judge in the jail courtroom, accused of four counts of attempted murder.

Deputies accused him of open firing on a different woman and her family, just after 10 a.m. Sunday, on Holly Creek Road. Nobody was hurt and deputies explicitly said that incident did not involve Rucker.

"He was the last one with her, and we haven't seen her or been in touch with her since yesterday morning around 6 or 7," Rucker's family told police.

The family says it's highly unusual for her to not be in contact with them, or for them not to be able to reach her.

"We're praying and we're believing, we're just asking everyone who gets this information to pray with us and if you know anything, if you see anything if you hear anything, please let us know," Chatman said.

The family said Rucker sent a message she was heading home after going to pick up food, never arriving. This led to an understandable worry.

"She's missing and we don't know where she's at. No one has given us any answers, and our concern is getting her back, safe," Chatman said.

Cory Hill will remain in jail without bond. None of his legal issues involve Rucker’s missing person’s case.

Doesn't make sense. Doesn't say it wasn't her idea to leave with him or why she did. He was arrested a day later, doesn't say if he was asked where she was.

Message she was heading home after picking up food, does this mean she drove him and now was driving home without him and with food? I thought she left with him. Which way was it?

Very vague. How long were they estranged? A day or a year? Be more odd if it had been a long time.

The stress the other incident is not part of her disappearance but I'd bet it relates in some way to their relationship, estrangement or break up. I bet who the others are likely relate as well in some way.

Again there is little here and doesn't make sense. Doesn't even say who left with whom in what car, why, where they said they were going, who drove, if he just showed up or she called him, etc., etc.

If not for his shooting at others prior and her not coming back in less than 24 hours, I'd wonder if there was even reason for a case at that point.

Odd.

Sounds to me like he was agitated quite a bit when he was arrested. If he harmed Shakeira, did he decide to do the same to every woman that ever made him angry? Didn’t do what he said?

Makes me sick to think about it.

Shakeira Rucker missing: Estranged husband 'person of interest' in Winter Springs mom's disappearance: police

The estranged husband of a missing Winter Springs woman has been officially declared a "person of interest" in her disappearance, according to the Winter Springs Police Department.

Shakeira Rucker, 37, has been missing since Saturday night, Nov. 11, when she was last seen leaving her Winter Springs home around 7:30 p.m., according to police. Her family believes that she left with her estranged husband, Cory Hill, 51, though it's not known where they went.

On Tuesday afternoon, Winter Springs Police Captain Doug Seeley told FOX 35 that Hill, who was arrested Monday on several attempted murder charges in an unrelated case out of Orange County, was seen on surveillance video with Rucker at a restaurant in Polk County on Saturday night. Because of that, Hill is now considered a "person of interest" in her disappearance.

He said detectives attempted to talk to Hill about Rucker's disappearance at the Orange County Jail, but he refused to talk with them, leading them to name him a person of interest. He has not been named a suspect and has not been arrested or charged with anything in Rucker's disappearance.

Her mom, Elaine Rucker, told FOX 35 that Shakeira sent a text message to her daughter that she was on her way home and had food for them. However, hours went by and Shakeira had not yet made it home, Elaine said.

Rucker's daughter then called Elaine, her grandma, who then called Hill. He reportedly told them that he had already dropped Shakeira off and did not know where she was.

"Yes, she's out there somewhere, yes," Elaine told FOX 35 on Tuesday, though she said she wasn't sure if her daughter was alive or not.

The Orange County Case

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, detectives responded to a report of a shooting on Sunday morning, Nov. 12, on Holly Creek Road. A woman told detectives that Hill approached her and her family with a gun and started shooting.

No one was injured and Hill allegedly ran away before detectives arrived. He was located in Mount Dora and arrested by police there, OCSO said.

He was booked into jail on two counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder, according to online court records.

This case is unrelated to the disappearance of Rucker, police said.

"He was trying to kill me," Angel Milligan told FOX 35 on Monday night.

According to Milligan, she and Hill used to date, and they lived together. Milligan said she broke things off in September, after speaking with Rucker.

"She’s like, ‘Hey, do you know he’s married?’, I’m like, ‘no, all I know is so far he’s telling me he’s out of town at work’," Milligan recalled.

Milligan said she filed an injunction against Hill, so she was surprised to see him at her house on Sunday, November 12. Her surprise turned to terror when she said he pulled out a gun.

"He said, ‘Don’t run now’… that was the first words out of his mouth, ‘Don’t run now’… and at that point, I went to turn my back to run in the house and all you hear is gunshots," Milligan said. "I felt the wind of like two of them graze past my face as I’m running."

Photos of the scene shared with FOX 35 show bullet holes in the walls and a smashed window.

"Why? That’s all I really want to know," said Milligan. "Why?"

News that Rucker was with Hill, less than 24 hours before bullets started flying through her front door, left Milligan with an uneasy feeling. She said she hopes Rucker is found safe, but fears the worst.

I said it would be related in some way. A wife and a gf. Dd I mention that? I think I may have, it certainly crossed my mind. Or an ex, etc.

The two women connected and had the goods on him and were calling him out on his lies AND leaving him, kicking him to the cur, etc.

They can say over and over it is not connected and maybe it isn't in a direct way but it is.

It is still though worse than the average cheating man who shoots at one woman and "likely" disappears another. Smh.

The person of interest in connection with a missing Florida mother, Shakeira Rucker, has a criminal history that her family says they never knew about.

Can't tell if that is an affectionate hand hold or a "guiding" hand hold.

With what little we know, my bet is on "guiding".

I feel so terrible for her kids. None of this looks good at ALL. And pretending to be a man of God? I have no words.

Criminal record. Man of God. That does not look affectoionate but controlling in the photos. :(

I have chosen wrong but there was no record other than marriages which I knew of. I'd urge women and their families to check a background. it is sad we have to and sad that most of us are and were raised by those that would trust first and give benefit of the doubt but question later and look into after something bad happens.

Not a good feeling either, I was hopeful at first with the scant information, thought perhaps she was trying to help him stay out of trouble in what he did with/to the other woman and some traingle thing was going on. Clearly both were involved with him, one married to and one seeing. But I'm not feeling any longer that she helped him out of the fix of what he did to that one.

I think they both found out what a fake he was and liar and that what he concocted was falling apart and BOTH women now knew better... And he could play neither or fix it.

Shakeira Rucker’s family pushes for more agencies to aid in search

Law enforcement agencies across Central Florida are teaming up to help Winter Springs police find missing mother Shakeira Rucker.

The person she was with, her estranged husband, isn’t talking to investigators. He’s being held at the Orange County Jail in connection with a different case.

Rucker’s family and friends said there is no way they’re giving up hope on finding her.

A group showed up to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in hopes of getting investigators’ attention there as well.

Rucker’s mother said she’d like to see more resources dedicated to the case, like cadaver dogs, should the worst be true to bring them closure.

“I’m praying that she is (still out there alive),” Elaine Rucker said.

Anyone with information should call Winter Springs police or Crimeline.

Tips leading to an arrest are eligible for a reward up to $5,000.

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. - Overcome with emotions, the mother of a missing Winter Springs woman fainted mid-interview on Thursday.

While speaking with FOX 35’s Hannah Mackenzie, Elaine Rucker, mother of missing Shakeira Rucker, abruptly lost consciousness in the Orange County Sheriff’s Office parking lot. The Rucker family had gathered there to take part in a prayer vigil.

Just before she fainted, Elaine Rucker was pleading with Cory Hill, the person of interest in her daughter’s disappearance, to start cooperating with investigators.

"If you’re hearing this, please let us know," Elaine Rucker said. "Let someone know where she is. It’s been five days now. Her children need her. We miss her, we love her."

Clarence Thornton, Shakeira Rucker’s brother, told FOX 35 it’s important that the community see the toll this case is taking on the family. According to Thornton, as strong as they’re trying to remain, there comes a point where a person physically can’t take anymore.

EMS was called to the scene; Elaine Rucker was checked out and released. Thornton said she is doing well and has been resting.

He went off with her BEFORE he released shots at fhe other woman and her family?? Somehow I thought throughout he had done that and then showed up at Sharkira's and got her to or made her leave with him...

And yet I know women who still believe whatever the man says. And then they will tell you “oh, but he’s changed! He’s not like that anymore!” The cycle of abuse.
