ORLANDO, Fla. – Eight years ago Sunday, Orlando mother Michelle Parker went missing after appearing on a reality TV show. She still has not been found.

Parker was last seen on Nov. 17, 2011 after an episode of “The People’s Court” featuring her and her ex-fiance, Dale Smith Jr., in a dispute over a missing engagement ring aired. Records show Smith is the only person of interest in the case but has never been charged.

Parker was 33 years old at the time.

The missing woman’s father took to Facebook on Friday to reflect on everything that’s happened in the eight years since his daughter disappeared.

“I cannot explain the awful heartache I have felt so often in thinking of her and not being able to see her ever again. It truly breaks my heart and hurts so much more when each year comes around again from when she first went missing,” Brad Parker Sr. wrote.

In August 2009, Parker requested a domestic-violence injunction against Smith. She said in court papers that he was holding their then-15-month-old daughter when he cursed at her and broke the passenger-side window on her truck during an argument over the children.

Parker told the court that Smith previously had been violent with her and had threatened to kidnap their children. She also said Smith had problems with drugs and alcohol.

The injunction was dismissed Sept. 1, 2009. It is not clear why.

Smith was arrested several times during the 1990s. He pleaded no contest in 1990 to trespassing on school grounds and in 1992 to attempted aggravated battery. He entered a pretrial diversion in 1992 after being arrested on a charge of marijuana possession. He pleaded guilty in 1997 to battery.

In June 1996, Smith joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He was court-martialed in 2001 and found guilty of drug and domestic-battery charges, the military agency said. Smith was dishonorably discharged as a private in 2003.

Parker, a Winter Park High School graduate, was scheduled to work the night of her disappearance at a bartending job at The Barn in Sanford, but she never showed up.

Michelle Parker went missing 9 years ago. ‘Someone out there knows what happened’

Michelle Parker confronted her ex-fiancé about past abuse on an episode of “The People’s Court” that was televised nine years ago, on Nov. 17, 2011.

Within hours of the pre-taped show’s airing, the then-33-year-old went missing. She has never been found.

On Tuesday morning, Orlando police Chief Orlando Rolón again asked that anyone with information about her disappearance come forward.

“We hope today, on the ninth-year anniversary of Michelle missing, someone will step forward,” Rolón said at a press conference. “Someone out there knows what happened to Michelle, someone out there knows where Michelle is. We need to bring closure to the family."

Are they saying that after nine years they have nothing? Some of these cases really frustrate me. You only hear about them on the anniversary of when they went missing. What about the rest of the year? Maybe I’m just grumpy today

10 years later: Search for Orange County mom Michelle Parker continues

It’s been 10 years since an Orange County mother disappeared without a trace.

Investigators are still searching for Michelle Parker, who vanished in 2011.

Parker went missing the same day she and her ex-fiance, Dale Smith, appeared on a taped episode of "People's Court” arguing over a lost engagement ring.

She was last known to be alive when she was dropping off her twin children at Smith's condo near Goldenrod Road and Lee Vista Boulevard in Orlando, police said.

Parker's Hummer was found on Nov. 18, 2011, in an Orlando parking lot, and sheriff's divers discovered her iPhone under an Orange County bridge in December 2011.

Smith is the only suspect in the case but was never criminally charged.

Last year, Orlando Police Chief Orlando Rolon was asked if Smith is still a suspect in the case.

“He is someone of interest during this investigation, but ultimately I think there may be someone out there who has some specifics that will help us close this case,” Rolon said.

Despite that, Parker's parents have sued Smith in civil court, accusing him of their daughter's death.

Michelle Parker disappearance: 11 years since Florida mother vanished

Published November 18, 2022
Thursday marked 11 years since mother of three Michelle Parker disappeared in Orlando, Florida.

Detectives said the only suspect in Michelle’s disappearance is her ex-fiance, Smith. But, the family said he refused to cooperate with the investigation, and he was never charged.

"He pleads the fifth on things, so they don’t really have the answers," Gayle Parker said.

A Facebook page dedicated to providing updates on Parker's disappearance posted in September that an anonymous donor is offering a $200,000 reward for tips leading to an arrest or her whereabouts.

The family and police are encouraging anyone with information to come forward and contact Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).

One of the earliest domestic violence type cases I ever followed. She’s still gone without a trace. 😢

I’m so thankful to see LE is still actively working on Michelle’s case!

'She had hopes and dreams': Orlando mother's case still unsolved 13 years after her disappearance

An Orlando mother disappeared after appearing on a reality TV show. Thirteen years later, she still has not been found.

"Yesterday, 13 years ago, she was alive and well. She had hopes, dreams, and plans," said Gayle Parker.

Thirteen years after her disappearance, Parker’s parents remain desperate for answers on her whereabouts.

"In one flash of a moment, she was gone, and it’s unbelievable how that kind of thing can happen," said Gayle Parker.

Michelle's stepmom, Gayle, said that for the first time, her daughter's case has been taken over by Orlando police Chief Eric Smith.

Over the years, she said they have worked with numerous detectives and continue to do so.

"It’s the best we can do, there's no guarantee. It’s just amazing someone can just make a person disappear and get away from it," she said.

Police said Parker disappeared right after a People's Court episode ran where she discussed a lost engagement ring.

On that day, she went to drop off her twins at her ex-fiancé's house, and that was the last time anybody heard from her.

Smith was named a person of interest in the case. But no one has ever been arrested in connection to Parker's disappearance.

“I do what I can to find her, and I will follow through with that," said Gayle Parker.

Her family continues to keep her cold case relevant until they get answers.
