Skagit County Sheriff's Office asks for help in missing person case

The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office and several community members are asking the public for help finding 37-year-old Krista J. Hunt.

According to a Tuesday news release from the Sheriff’s Office, Hunt, a white female with brown hair and blue eyes, was reported missing on Feb. 1. She was last seen wearing a gray Carhartt coat and black leggings.

According to a GoFundMe post created by Krista Hunt’s mother, Pamela Hunt, Krista Hunt was last seen in the Concrete area.

Mother fears the worst after daughter vanishes in small Skagit County town

A desperate family is searching for a woman who vanished last month in a small Skagit County town, and her mother fears she may be dead.

Krista Hunt was last seen around Jan. 25 in Concrete, Washington, with a man believed to be her boyfriend. According to her mother, Pamela Hunt, the couple got into a truck and ran out of gas near the Lone Star Restaurant. Krista allegedly got out to walk away — and has not been seen since.

"She was my best friend, my only daughter," Pamela said, wiping tears from her eyes.

Pamela says her daughter's boyfriend was abusive. She claims that in the weeks before the disappearance, she took Krista to the hospital after a particularly bad altercation.

"She did in fact have a broken leg. She said he had boot-stomped her leg and her chest," Pamela said. "She said one time he set a timer and told her he was going to hit her every 15 minutes."

Two days after Krista was reported missing, her boyfriend reportedly shot himself at a bar in Concrete. He survived but has not been charged in connection with the disappearance.

Investigators have not confirmed whether the boyfriend is a suspect. They say the investigation remains "very active."

Pamela said her daughter was not the type to simply walk away from her life.

"She was a very independent person. Not the kind of person you would think would be trapped in an abusive relationship," she said.

Now, clinging to her daughter's dog, Scout — the only connection she has left to Krista — Pamela is pleading for answers.

"There would be a sign of her if she wasn't hidden. And I feel like she's been hidden," Pamela said.

Pamela believes someone in Concrete knows what happened to her daughter and hopes that person will come forward.

"The best thing is to let her come home and not let us be wondering every day what happened to her," she said.
