Police search for woman who went missing in Philadelphia

Police are searching for a woman who went missing in Philadelphia over the weekend.

Kada Scott, 23, was last seen by her family on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at 9:45 p.m. when she left a home along the 8300 block of Rodney Street in Philadelphia to go to her job at the Terrace at Chestnut Hill, a nursing home on 495 East Abington Avenue.

Police said Scott – who traditionally works overnights – then left her job before her shift ended. While she arrived to work in her car, she didn't leave in her vehicle, which was found by police in the parking lot of the nursing home.

Police interviewed Scott's coworkers who didn't notice any strange behavior prior to her disappearance. Police also said they haven't seen any cellphone activity from Scott since she went missing.

Family members told police that shortly before her disappearance, Scott had told them she was being harassed by someone through her phone. Police are working to determine who that person is.

Police also said Scott is active on social media but they haven't seen any activity on her social media accounts since her disappearance. Family members also said Scott does not have a history of disappearing, describing her as an energetic woman.

“What’s troubling about this case is number one, you have a 23-year-old young lady who has completely disappeared," Philadelphia Police Captain John Craig said during a Wednesday afternoon press conference. "We have no cellphone activity or social media activity and she has not reached out to family or friends.”

Scott's parents told NBC10 that they are sick to their stomachs over her disappearance.

"Please come home. I'm so scared and I love you and please come home," Scott's mother, Kim Matthews, said. "Something is out of place. She would never do something like this so I don't know what's going on."

Matthews said that Scott left with her car keys, iPad, iPhone and iWatch but since her phone was shut off, investigators explained that they can't track down her location.

23-year-old vanishes after telling family she was being harassed, PA cops say
A 23-year-old woman “completely disappeared” after leaving her job in the middle of her shift, Pennsylvania authorities say.

Kada Scott was last seen by her family at 9:45 p.m. Oct. 4 when she left for her overnight shift at a nursing home on the northwest side of Philadelphia, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.

Philadelphia Police Capt. John Craig said in an Oct. 8 news briefing that Scott left “pretty soon” after she arrived to work, but her vehicle remained in the parking lot.

Since then, she has been unaccounted for, with her phone having been turned off, investigators said. Officers are analyzing her phone data to figure out her movements after leaving her job.

“We do have some concern, more so than usual,” Craig said.

Before Scott’s disappearance, she had told family members she was being harassed over the phone by an unknown person. according to police.

Investigators said they are are interviewing Scott’s friends and family and working to determine who had been messaging her.

“Something is out of place,” Scott’s mother, Kim Matthews, told WCAU. “She would never do something like this so I don’t know what’s going on.”

Miss USA hopeful, 23, complained of being harassed by strangers days before she vanished during overnight shift

A former beauty queen contestant from Philadelphia has vanished after she told her family and friends she was getting harassing phone calls.

Months ago, Kada Scott, 23, was in the running to be the next Miss Pennsylvania USA and represent her state in the national Miss USA pageant. Now, she has been missing for going on four days.

Scott last seen on Saturday night leaving her job at The Terrace at Chestnut Hill, an assisted living facility in the northwest section of the city.

Scott's family reported her missing on Sunday, with her mother, Kim Matthews, telling police she saw Scott leave the family home in East Mount Airy, about 10 miles north of downtown Philadelphia, the previous day at around 9:45pm.

She was scheduled to work her usual overnight shift, from 10pm to 6am, and coworkers reported seeing her leave the building in her black scrubs shortly after she arrived, police said.

Detectives said the facility does not have any surveillance cameras, but they found Scott's car still parked outside. It is currently being analyzed for any possible forensic evidence.

Seems strange that if she was being harassed that she would leave with somebody without telling coworkers. Did she give a reason why she was leaving early? Employers usually are given a "why" when you tell them you have to leave before your shift ends. Surely, in this day and age, especially at an assisted living facility, you would think they would have video of the premises, especially in case of a wandering patient.

No cameras surprised me too.
I got the impression she didn't tell anyone she was leaving, she just left.

I know of no assisted living facilities near me that do not have very good video for knowing who is where is the facility, both inside and outside. The one very near me has a "wanderer". He gets on his motorized chair and takes off down the side walk and they use it to see which direction he went. He's usually just a little ways away, but the video is how they know which way. I see him often and they are allowed to leave the premises, but they do worry about them when they do.

Funny thing about him is that there is a retirement apt right by the facility and often they find him sitting out with some of their residents. Seems he is just lonely and/or knows some of the residents of the apartments. The point being is that the cameras are how they know where to look if he doesn't check back in shortly.

LIVE: Active search underway in Philadelphia's Germantown section in connection to missing woman

The search for a missing Philadelphia woman is expanding Friday in the city's Germantown section.

Police are actively scouring the grounds of Awbury Arboretum. Officials have blocked off several intersections around the area, which includes a large wooded area down the street.

It's unclear right now exactly what police are searching for Friday morning.

Investigators say her workplace, which is about two and half miles from where the search is being conducted Friday, did not have surveillance cameras.

K-9s are currently in the area Friday, as police continue to get organized.

Action News has learned that more reinforcements will be sent in to help with this search. Sources say the FBI is also assisting with this search and investigation.

The search for missing 23-year-old Kada Scott brought Philadelphia police to the Awbury Arboretum on Friday morning.

Investigators say nothing was found during their sweep of the 55-acre property, but they are continuing to pursue leads.

Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore told reporters that nothing was found during their sweep of the wooded area that they believe is linked to the search for Kada.

He did not specify what lead police to the Awbury Arboretum, only that the search focused primarily on the northside of the property "where cars drive in and out of."

"It's a troubling missing person report," Vanore said. "We don't know if foul play is involved, but we certainly see some signs that this person isn't voluntarily missing."

Although I can’t figure out what could’ve happened because there isn’t very much information in this case, it looks like Police have gotten some kind of a tip.

So, if she was "last seen leaving her job" but there are no cameras, who saw her leaving?

ETA found it from post 3 upthread

"She was scheduled to work her usual overnight shift, from 10pm to 6am, and coworkers reported seeing her leave the building in her black scrubs shortly after she arrived, police said."

Ok so she must have been abducted or met someone voluntarily. Her car was still parked at the facility.

Just read all posts.

She could have walked away but police say they see troubling signs that she isn't voluntarily missing so that would seem to negate that most likely.

Yet she walked out of her own free will apparently so WHAT caused that. I assume no one followed her and there were no problems at work? Did she punch out or just leave?

The walking out seems to indicate she was meeting someone OR that person was lying in wait for her having done something to cause her to walk out...

Harassing her via her phone someone had been at least per what she told people. No hint she knew who the one harassing her was but maybe she did or suspected...? I'm wondering if there was a recent ex or someone she was trying to get rid of/stay away from.

The search of the arboretum is very interesting and they said especially the north side where cars can go in and out... That would lead me to believe they have footage of some vehicle or enough footage to string together maybe a certain vehicle that went from her work area to the arboretum area...?

That's all I've got on a first read.

Family continues search for missing 23-year-old Philly woman on Saturday

The family of missing 23-year-old Kada Scott continued their desperate search on Saturday, with one week now having gone by since she disappeared while working at a late night shift at a nursing home in Northeast Philadelphia.

“It’s been very sleepless nights. I can’t even express how we feel. It’s just been nonstop," said Shantelle Nelson, Scott's godmother.
Scott's family and friends were canvassing the neighborhood where she was last seen and handing out flyers with the hopes that they can find any clues that can lead to her being found.

"We are just trying to figure out more. As much as we can," said Sanaya Murray, Scott's friend.

A day earlier, Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, investigators were searching the Awbury Arboretum in Philly's Germantown neighborhood, but found nothing.

"That’s my daughter, I love her, we all want her back, her family. We’re all worried, concerned," Scott's father, Kevin Scott, said at the scene.

He added that not having found a body gives him some hope.

Nelson said she was grateful for the strangers who also came out to help on Saturday and said that she too is remaining hopeful that Scott will be found alive.

“We have no idea at all where she is, where she could be, what could have happened," Nelson said. "It’s just bringing us a lot of hope, and I do appreciate everyone’s efforts.”

"“I love her. We love her. I just pray that she is safe," Nelson added.
