Stephanie Hollingsworth: ‘Heart of Gold’ yoga instructor mom mysteriously disappears after taking $20 from ATM

Stephanie Chitwood Hollingsworth, 50, was last seen Sept. 25 at her home on Monet Avenue

Family, friends and community members created a search command post at a shopping center along Goldenrod Road and Hoffner Avenue, the area where Stephanie Hollingsworth was last seen. Belle Isle Police are putting emphasis on the vehicle she was last seen driving, a 2000 silver Chevrolet Tahoe with Florida license plate number Y50XUR. They hope locating the van will get police closure to finding the missing mother.

Belle Isle police said Stephanie last made a debit card transaction at the Bank of America at Hoffner Avenue and Goldenrod Road just before 2 p.m. Friday. Surveillance shows that she was alone, driving a 2000 silver Chevrolet Tahoe. She left her cell phone at home.

On the same day she was reported missing, surveillance video from a Walmart shopping center located at 5991 S. Goldenrod Road shows her walking up and down an aisle at the Orlando store around 2 p.m., police said.
Prior to the release of the video, Scott Hollingsworth said his wife, a yoga instructor, was last seen here at an ATM taking out cash after leaving their Belle Isle home on Sept. 25.

He said Stephanie Hollingsworth is a loving wife and mother to her 21-, 17- and 15-year-old sons, who also want her back home.

“It’s just not like her,” Scott Hollingsworth said. “It’s not something she’d ever do, being away from her family.”

Hollingsworth can be seen wearing a face mask and all-black clothing in the video

Belle Isle police said they “have received no meaningful leads and continue to use every resource available to locate Stephanie Hollingsworth.”

“Search is going very well,” said Stephanie's husband, Scott. "We're having amazing support, a lot of people are showing up, giving everything they can, their talents and abilities, whether it's boots on the ground or flying drones.”

He added that "we only feel like we have enough to say that the truck made it to Lake Nona High School. From there, we're not sure yet but they're working a lot of leads, we're just trying to get video."

Two pond deaths lately. Two shipping containers now. It is starting to seem like the autistic deaths, the parent kidnappings and hot car deaths. What is this rash of similar things at times in these past months... Is there such a thing as copycat suicides? Clearly in the hot car deaths and autistic deaths, many of those were not accidents and those seem like copycat perps.

So he recently found a backpack packed with things and assumed she maybe checked herself into a mental health facility. Not meaning anything by it but that's a bit odd. It is not necessarily what I would assume if I found such a thing but then I don't know her. She clearly did not take it with her if he found it to believe it was her intent on this occasion. And if he found this just recently, it probably must have been hidden or it would have been noticed sooner. Does this mean she would have at some point planned to check herself in somewhere and not told her family and instead worried them? Someone with an alcohol problem I could see hiding the alcohol, not sure if they would hide the fact they are seeking help as again, it would worry her family.

The family friend writes how they were soulmates and such and they quite possibly were. Clearly though, apparently she had her secrets from her hub as the backpack shows so communication was not perfect.

I am not accusing anyone and don't have real reason to or anything, but I will say I await more information just as with the other recent pond death. Did she by choice drive in or was it an accident? Was she ever with anyone or did she encounter anyone after leaving home?

What are these? Suicides? I sure wouldn't choose to drown in a car and quite possibly slowly. I would think even if intentional, you would panic once in the water and be trying to get out, it seems an odd choice to me. The bottle of vodka honestly means little to me at this time. Even if she did drink it, people do such things 100s of times and do not end up in ponds. Possible? Most definitely.

Just thoughts. Sorry to hear this ending either way. RIP Stephanie.

Authorities confirm Stephanie's car was found fully submerged in a retention pond in Orlando yesterday with a body inside but they have not confirmed yet that it is in fact Stephanie.

It says in a retention pond at Story Time Dr and Dowden Rd. There is a large curve in the road at that point. Missed the curve? Over corrected?

but in the water or down a ravine is the likely story when a person and their vehicle are both not sited at all for quite some time, especially with the plate reader technology that is available coupled with everybody's cameras.
Or shipping containers. Meant with a bit of sarcasm... I am not saying anything is odd here, it very well may be just straight up. I await hearing more like now that they know where she ended up, other camera sightings on that route, when, how long after Walmart, etc. Whether accidental or intentional on her part and anything else they find.

The first shipping container one still bothers me though... Sometimes one does not get the answers to questions...

I hate mapping and am not good at it but I may have to try to map this. I would have to go back and look for their address and the Walmart, etc. and where she ended up. I simply wonder how close this was to where she was last seen, and in how long of a time period as well. I guess there was a school camera after that...

If this was fairly quickly afterwards, then I don't see the purchase of vodka being significant. Now on the other hand, if she was drinking before doing errands, or there were hours in between the purchase and her ending up in the pond, then maybe she did drink the vodka and that would be different. She did appear okay in Walmart, I mean she was walking fine, etc., as far as i could see.

I am not really questioning anything but simply would like to know more info. This should have been broad daylight and I would think in an area she was familiar with, although I don't know enough about where she was found or how far away it is from their area.

I wonder if that high school is where her teenagers attended or if it was just a sighting by camera as she passed by or something like that. It's great they found another area she was in or went past though.

Looking at posts I somehow missed. I have to say I did not like how he came across on camera at all BUT I also realize that is not any reason to assume anything, who knows how anyone would act under that pressure.

I looked back to refresh my memory. Why is it she went missing on September 25th and as far as I can find or tell, there are no articles about it until October. I see one article says she was reported missing on the same day as seen in Walmart, etc. but not all of them do so I would like to confirm that.

I also would like to know how she was last seen at home at 2 p.m. the same day as Walmart. Was she seen by the hub, one of the kids, by a surveillance camera? By the mailman? And if she was reported missing the same day which seems a bit unclear to me, what triggered the thought she was missing or one should be worried on that same day? Did she not show up someone expected and it was unusual or was it late in the evening when LE was called?

I just realized what is bothering me in these cases lately. First we had a rash it seemed of maybe noncustodial parents kidnapping children. Then one has to admit there has been a rash of autistic children most ending up in water and many foul play.

Now I just realized how many missing women we are hearing the significant other say they had mental problems, she was fasting, she was getting a bit weird about religion or pagan holidays, she had trouble with alcohol. I am throwing no one under the bus because I don't have enough reason but it seems really strange to me. Sharing it with LE is one thing and probably wise but sharing it with the world on the news seems a bit unnecessary and seems somewhat like a betrayal of your spouse. I don't really see how it would help find them but it sure paints a picture... With HIPPA laws and all, that missing spouse would perhaps never want such private info shared but the hubs share it, again definitely share it if true with LE but why to the public...

Just sayin' and again I don't know that it means anything in this case or any other and not accusing but I just realized there have been a rash of them and it bothers me...

As I said earlier, the fact she was on camera buying a bottle of vodka means nothing to me. It could have been for her, for them, for a gathering or party, or simply to restock, someone could have even sent her to buy it, maybe that is why she turned around in an aisle, she was not familiar with where things were located. Finally, she seemed to be walking straight and fine in the store and it is not like we saw her drink it.

I am taking a wait and see and find out more on this one...
Anytime a significant other starts going on about how the missing woman had been acting strangely just before she disappeared, my hinky meter goes up. But that doesn't mean that something nefarious has gone on.

I had a feeling this was going to be the case. I hope they do a toxology report to see if she had really been drinking or not, though.

That shipping container case is one of the most bizarre I've ever seen.

I wish I knew how to do that better. Thank you so very much!

Hmm. I enabled like an earth view and zoomed in and do not see a body of water (haven't spent a lot of time yet on it). So I assume this pond was not of major size like some of the other bodies of water showing in the map.

I had wondered with the school sighting if she was not going to pick up the other two children or wait around for them to get out but her husband never said that, so the school perhaps has nothing to do with their children... Maybe just a camera that picked her up...

I again don't have any real reason to think anything but I do hope they dot all the i's, cross all of the t's, and let people know. Tox, autopsy, was death due to drowning or not, etc.

With the statement you bolded, it does not sound like LE is sure yet either as to what happened or when. At minimum, even if just her, was it an accident or intentional on her part...

I am very sad at the outcome. I did not believe it but I truly hoped maybe this woman just wanted a break, even though leaving a spouse and children to worry would not be thoughtful, I hoped it just might be the case.

This right here - I was thinking the same thing - was there a bottle of vodka in the vehicle? Reports are that she had purchased one. Was it empty? IF she had an alcohol problem, it's possible she was at the school parking lot and maybe drinking there. Then decided to drive to wherever and straightened the curve and ended up in the pond. Curious about the bottle tho.

I also am curious about the bottle, whether empty, open, half full, etc. I just do not jump to the conclusion that she drank it. And the facts in this case are very vague. Some said it was a 5th of vodka which is not a big bottle although no doubt if all consumed it could have an effect. I know the husband said she battled and had an issue, and I am not doubting him, but it just is not enough for me without more info. And others say he said her drink of choice was wine... However, I could devil advocate myself and say vodka while driving and public would be harder to notice... Especially if added to a bottle of pop and the booze bottle hidden...

I don't see her drinking in a school parking lot, that would be the last place, but I guess if you had a serious problem you might and if hiding it like mentioned above, maybe more likely...

Which is why I agree that toxicology is a necessity as I feel a full autopsy is to be sure it was death by drowning and so forth.
