Got my Masters degree from here. :(

Killer who stabbed 4 Idaho students to death still at large

The killer — or killers — who stabbed four University of Idaho students to death remained at large Tuesday, prompting many students to leave the campus in the idyllic small town despite police assurances that there was no imminent risk to the community.

So many students had left the scenic tree-lined campus in Moscow, Idaho, by Tuesday that university officials said a candlelight vigil scheduled for the next day would instead be held after the Thanksgiving break.

The students, all close friends, were found dead in an off-campus rental home around noon on Sunday, and officials said they likely were killed several hours earlier. Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt told the Spokane, Washington-based television station KXLY that her preliminary investigation showed the students were stabbed to death. There is no indication that substance use was involved in the deaths, Mabbutt said.

I'm gonna shut up here in a sec. I promise. The latest from the Goncalves "family" page. They're also past encouraging folks to harass the judge, and have moved on to "report them to the DOJ! Here's the link!"

Right here, right now, we dig our heels into the earth and carve a line deep in the dirt. This ain’t justice, no judge presided, no jury weighed the truth.

Thompson robbed us of our day in court. No negotiations, no jury of our peers, not even the pretense of cooperation and fairness.

Cowardly men, gutless men, they scatter like roaches when the battle closes in. And Thompson?

He’s retiring on this deal, his shadow slithering toward the exit, leaving only the stench of his betrayal.

No spine, no shred of honor. He didn’t have the basic decency, the plain human courage, to face the families, to meet our eyes and ask, “How do we make an offer that works?”

Instead, Thompson cut his deal with the devil, his negotiations didn’t require anything other than a simple guilty plea. Allowing him the leeway to blame the same people you are paid to protect. You betrayed us, Thompson. You deal fails to shield the innocent. You could’ve stood tall and made damn sure the blame stayed where it belongs not on us, not on the broken survivors still carrying the weight of your repeated failures.

This is our courtroom now. This moment. This stand. Our voices rise to every American who’ll listen.

We would’ve provided protection for the roommates, the best friends, the fallen vet—God rest his soul, and every soul in effected in our shattered community. We would’ve carved our terms like sacred commandments, etched deep into unyielding granite, a testament to those we’ve lost and the justice they’re owed.

First: Truth—spill it, BK Every sickening detail only the killer could know, the kind that twists your guts just to hear but turns even a simpleton proberger against you.

Second: You bear the guilt, all of it alone. You don’t get to smear the survivors, the ones still waking to nightmares born of your reckless choices.

Third: No cashing in on our grief no books, no private interviews with your ex-professor. No one is allowed to study you, because you’re not special. You don’t get to spit on our kids’ graves by making this all about you.

Only Hippler can step into this void, mend the wreckage Thompson left in Latah so-called justice system.

This is what murder victims’ families’ negotiation looks like.

It’s ugly. It’s raw. It wild, It’s anything but easy.

Yet you, Mr. Thompson, didn’t even bother to negotiate with us, so this is all we have left there is no more time for us to wait for you to make a stand so we stand in your place!

Kaylee Jade Goncalves, we love you, baby. You deserved better than this justice system! Your soul is not Thompson bargaining chip, we do not except his plea deals signed in your name. We’re screaming for you as loud as we can! Kaylee Jade is better than this*

This is our last shot: Judge Hippler, you are our only hope that our child murder isn’t granted control over his destiny in our children’s names. You take control of this deal and make it right because now you OWN IT!

Does anyone feel that Steve not going into the courtroom today was a good idea or do you think he disrespected the memory of his daughter by leaving before the hearing started.
No, I think he knew his anger and chose the smart route and did not go in.

I don't really understand his motive in any of this, but it his choice whether he attends or not. I think he is lucky he is not being charged with contempt of court by the judge, who is unhappy with him telling people to contact the judge. Maybe that is why he did not attend as he must know the judge is not happy. He doesn't seem to understand that a perp can plead guilty if he wishes and the sentence can be decided by the prosecutors and the court. The murderer of his daughter and her friends will die in jail.
Well two families were upset, perhaps it was him who had people contacting the judge, hard to say.

They wanted a motive and answers and did not get them.

He has said when this is a over he will have a LOT to say about what they dealt with. And I honesty can't blame the upset over the prosecutor not sitting down with the families and talking this over instead of doing it without them knowing after just meeting with them and hardy saying a word about it. Interesting the guy is retiring now. Clearly through many posts even before the hearing today, their issue is the prosecutor.

Welcome to the Steve Goncalves show. :(
I don't get this guy.

His first demand is for BK to tell the truth. Not sure how you would know if he was telling the truth or not unless it's corroborated by some other source and that would mean you already have that information.

The second demand was given today when BK said he was guilty. If this plea didn't take place the defense would have had a chance to smear the survivors during the trial . They can't do that now.

The third demand about no cashing in on this case is provided by Idaho statute 19-5301. If Steve want's to prevent anyone from profiting by a court ruling it's not going to happen.

In Idaho, convicted criminals, including those convicted of killing,
cannot profit from the commercial exploitation of their crimes, according to Idaho Statutes Section 19-5301. This statute addresses the scenario where a person, firm, or entity contracts with someone accused or convicted of a crime to produce things like movies, books, articles, or shows about their crimes, or express their thoughts and feelings about the crime.

Here's how Idaho law handles this:
  • Any money owed to the convicted person or their representatives under such a contract must be paid to the state treasurer.
  • The state treasurer holds these funds in an escrow account for the benefit of the victims of the crime.
  • Victims can access these funds if they bring a civil lawsuit against the convicted person or their representatives within five years of the escrow account's establishment and successfully recover a money judgment

Steve yelling and threatening people will not get him anywhere except maybe jail. He needs to watch himself.

Can you imagine how he would not have been able to contain himself every day if this had gone to trial?
I have a feeling that SG would have been removed and banned from the courtroom very early in the trial if it had taken place. He shows little common sense or self control.

I get you and do not disagree but he has been somewhat like this from early on. I am trying not to judge any of the families but he does make it hard. I think he/they have internalized a lot and perhaps he feels he is failing his daughter.

I though too can't see risking trial versus having a sure thing that is the best they can have without the DP.

His problem seems to be with the prosecutor.

They weren't told and had very short notice on this.

I have no problem judging him or anyone else who behaves badly in the manner he has. He has added the judge to his list by saying he "owns it" if he doesn't help him with his quest of stopping the plea deal.

I have been on a few channels since last commenting ad people surprisingly are furious on behalf of the families who did not want this.

I willl say the prosecutor did not handle this decently or right.

Yes that's what Steve Goncalves is saying and he is using that to now harass the Judge and courthouse staff.

I will not be surprised if he gets into some serious trouble.

I wouldn't wish his pain on anybody but that dude really needs to get his sh!t together before he does something really stupid. I'm a bit surprised that charges for intimidation or stalking haven't already been filed against him.

I get both sides of it to a point.

I suspect, could be wrong, they won't come down on a grieving parent.
