ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

some are just control freaks, too and have the same type of attitude that a lot of abusers have that "if I can't have him, nobody can". I see this as being the main mindset in those that won't let others take care of their kids that they obviously either can't or won't do themselves.
But if she couldn't handle it, I see it a little different than an intimate partner mindset like that. IMO.

Wow. The one victim was air lifted to "The University of Missouri Columbia". It is by car it's about 2 hrs. By helicopter about 45 minutes.
they airlifted many to many different hospitals. Our 4 metro life flights were dispatched there and made a few trips each. No trauma units close to there, either.

This woman was the one who survived but later died at the hospital. Three died on site. She was the forth and final death.

I'm not sure. I am sure they airlifted so many because that was the easiest transportation for that area to handle for the sheer quantity of patients and there are no trauma hospitals anywhere near there. I am sure the small, community hospitals were overwhelmed just with minor injuries.
They airlifted to The University of Missouri Columbia. Best place in the state.

These stories are from this morning and then this afternoon. So number killed needs to be tallied up. This is ridiculous.

I wouldn't live in Chicago for jack! My God kids family is from the south side and it's nothing nice. I've been there. I was in culture shock.
