Missouri vs. Maggie Ybarra and Michael Hendricks for murder after foster teen reports abuse *GUILTY*

FBI returns Friday to Grain Valley property where remains of missing woman were found

Investigators from the FBI on Friday will spend a second day gathering evidence at a property in unincorporated Jackson County where the body of a missing woman was found last week.

Aubry had been reported missing in Independence after relatives lost contact with her since October. Her last known address was in Kansas City, Kansas.

Court records show the homeowner, Michael J. Hendricks, 40, is identified as the homeowner. Hendricks and his girlfriend Maggie Ybarra, 30, were the primary subjects of the investigation that led police to find Aubry’s body in Hendricks’ yard.

Hendricks and Ybarra were investigated by authorities in April after a 13-year-old girl who was in foster care told police she was sexually assaulted by them and shown pictures of a dead woman.

Infuriating. Previous charges of sexual abuse. Again! Walking around, Not in prison. Her father "Doesn't have it in her blood" to do this. Oh come on. Never heard that one. I've heard plenty of "Not my child". Etc. I'd like to see a not guilty plea here.

Agreed. They are always pulling some crap for the defendant these days and don't think about the victim's family. They just prolong their pain.
Yeah, years ago I mean when I was likely in my 20s or 30s I heard fights for victim's rights or laws or some such and they were passed. I didn't follow crime then or even know the deal but thought well good, not knowing a thing about it or why it was needed or if defendants had more rights, etc... I think that is probably when victim advocates became a thing most likely, etc... Fast forward a decade or two or three and in my head victims have rights... And they do or theoretically they do and we were in just such a situation... And don't get me wrong, the advocate was great, the detectives, the prosecutor, etc... But all of it still was having to watch for what we shouldn't or couldn't do, what was allowed, about the defendant and his rights and giving him time and no matter what happened, bond was not revoked and even was given and then reduced...

Don't get me wrong it isn't their fault... One of the hardest things was no pictures of the victim living....??? WHAT? You can't show the victim was a living breathing smiling person? But the defendant could show what a person he was...

And now and for quite awhile I have followed crime and have for decades but I am really seeing for the first time how one sided it is... And now I get what many years ago it was that they had to fight for some victim's rights because there probably wasn't much and there still isn't compared to defendants imo which keeps getting worse and worse. Or the convicted... Or jailed. The lady that the food she couldn't eat and she'd had nothing but part of an apple? Well gee, oh well. She didn't murder anyone but she I guess expects the Ritz room service in jail. And what is more sickening is more often than not, the defendants get DANCED to.

They let people out before they should time after time after time we find, what happened to truth in sentencing?? It is 2/3 of a sentence around here and they are lighter than they should be quite often. But get someone on a more minor crime and they go away for too long...

Should you have a stiffer sentence for pot or stealing a car for a joyride than MURDER? It does happen...

Did you speak to a Michael Hendricks about buying a freezer? Grandview police want to talk

The Grandview Police Department is looking to speak with anyone who talked to a Michael Hendricks about purchasing a chest freezer last spring.

The police said that they are looking for people who spoke with the Grain Valley, Missouri, man as part of “an active felony investigation.”

Right now, it seems that they simply want to speak with individuals who had “social media contact” with him in the spring of 2021 regarding “the purchase of a chest style freezer.”

The communication could have been via Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or something similar.

According to KCTV5′s previous coverage from Aug. 2021, however, both a man named Michael Hendricks and a woman named Maggie Ybarra were charged with first-degree murder after a missing person’s body was found buried on Hendricks’ property in Grain Valley in July. That missing person was Kensie Aubry of Independence, Missouri.

The police department has not explicitly stated that this is the same Michael Hendricks they’re mentioning today.

However, that would explain what they mean when they say they’re seeking information “for an active felony investigation.”

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — After four delays, jury selection begins for a Jackson County man and woman charged with murdering a woman and burying her body.

The trial for Michael Hendricks and Maggie Ybarra was originally scheduled for September 2021, then delayed to July 2022. Again last spring, a judge granted a request from Hendricks’ attorney to delay the trial until February 2023. In January, however, the trial was delayed again, pushing it to May.

The last delay was due to a scheduling conflict with the defense attorney.

It has been nearly two years since Hendricks and Ybarra were charged in the death of Kensie Aubry.

Hendricks and Ybarra are each charged with first-degree murder and several other alleged crimes in Aubry’s death.

Court documents say a young girl told police that Hendricks and Ybarra showed her photos of a dead woman who had been dismembered.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Physical evidence was the focus of an ongoing murder and child sex abuse trial in Jackson County.

<snip>

Friday afternoon testimony from an FBI agent revealed detectives came away with multiple plastic bags filled with human remains during a July 2021 search of Hendricks’ property.

Photos entered as evidence show some of the dismembered body parts have tattoos. One tattoo on the decaying skin seems to mention Aubry’s name.

Also on Friday, a police detective detailed a search of Hendricks’ home in April 2021. Testimony stated officers confiscated a number of cameras and digital storage devices.

Officers were said to be looking for photos of Aubrey or her remains.

Thursday, an Independence police detective and FBI task force member testified that Hendricks’ neighbors said they saw Hendricks using heavy machinery, for digging, on the front end of his property.

That police detective said a power saw was also taken from Hendricks’ home after a cadaver dog was attracted to it.

Ybarra’s mom, Ruth Lohnes, also testified Thursday. She said her daughter asked her to come over. During her conversation with Ybarra and Hendricks Lohnes said she was concerned Aubry was “not alive anymore.”

Lohnes said she “got the impression [Hedricks] had strangled or squished Aubry.” She also was told it happened while the three were engaging in sexual activity.

Lohnes told investigators Ybarra was yelling obscenities at the woman while Aubry was strangled.

She claims the couple told her it took 4 minutes for Aubry to die.

When asked why she thinks they would do something like this, Lohnes told the court Hendricks kept repeating it was something he always wanted to do.

Lohnes said Hendricks and Ybarra showed her pictures of the victim within a freezer with one of her arms missing.

Lohnes told the court the pair said they put body parts in a plastic totes and tried to use a helicopter to drop them over a body of water, but they floated.

Lohnes’ information led detectives to Hendricks’ property. She told investigators the pair told her they planned to bury Aubry’s body there.

Delay requested by defense...again.
Well after delay after delay trial is finally on for these sick individuals. Let\'s not forget the foster child who came forward.

A helicopter. Phsheesh. Didn't work though, things floated. My God.

Sexual deviancy and assault/abuse/torture/rape.

No offense to anyone who lives there but there are some really sick demented cases coming out of Missouri. Rainwater. Others. And not where it was ONE person or incident in any of them either.

I am debating and may have to sell my property but I will tell ya I see areas getting worse and worse and it's actually pretty normal with not much crime even though a little redneck, etc. with attitudes but I'm used to that... I feel I should try to hold onto it as the one place that is not getting worse and worse all of the time. Whether crime, laws or politics or taxes or prices, etc.

More not guilty pleas and delays in this one in a case that seems to be clear cut guilt...

I was wondering if the had tried to get rid if evidence with that helicopter!
