The Long Island serial killer (also referred to as LISK, the Gilgo Beach Killer or the Craigslist Ripper) is an unidentified suspected serial killer who is believed to have murdered 10 to 16 people over a period of nearly 20 years.

The victims were found along the Ocean Parkway, near the remote beach towns of Gilgo and Oak Beach in Suffolk County, and the area of Jones Beach State Park in Nassau County. The remains of four victims were found in December 2010, while six more sets of remains were found in March and April 2011.[1][2][3] Police believe the latest sets of remains predate the four bodies found in December 2010.[4]

I am not sure of all but I do think many are and I think their refusal to consider that Gilbert is makes no sense at all.

My instincts on this case have always been for reasons we probably all know of through the years is this was someone either powerful, rich or connected or was not one but all three. I can see where maybe the case of Gilbert for instance was not looked at too seriously as just another prostitute right? I am just saying maybe the lack of investigating her disappearance was due to that, which is not right to begin with. However, what happened in the years since I cannot put down to that.

So many things. The refusal to release her 911 call. The later refusal EVEN AFTER a higher more powerful court ordered it released? Still refused.

This is one case I am pretty much convinced there is cover up and/or corruption involved. Even though it may appear that way at times, I do not think that beyond a shadow of a doubt in most cases but I do in this one.

Neither am I. My theory is 2 separate unrelated killers that used 2 areas of the beaches of LI as a dumping ground. The ones found during the search for Shannan I think are related to LISK the older bodies I think are someone else. But I could be wrong. It's also possible the killer was jailed got out and picked up where he left off. But my main theory is two separate...

I think she is too. In fact, their flat out almost refusal to consider her one makes me more suspicious where they probably hope it will convince people she is not. Has the very OPPOSITE effect on me...

Dutyron has a youtube channel and he is retired NYPD. He not long ago went out to Long Island and did a video of the area(s). Nothing earth shattering, nothing new but yes, the two areas of the beaches, etc.

I don't know what I think with that. I have the thought too that it could be more than one person even in the first set of killings and perhaps the later ones were someone connected to the first killer and the ways if that makes any sense... Even if separate though, it would likely mean there are two serial killers... Or it was a dumping ground for more than a few killers...

I’ve only watched one show about the Lisk. It was a while ago and I don’t remember much about it now.

What I’d like to know is if any of those people that have raised eyebrows done anything in the meantime? I mean, usually serial killers can’t stop. Oh but I need to retract that statement. EARS did stop.

Lost Girls was good. Not a documentary but a movie that followed Mari Gilbert's feisty persistence in finding her daughter and gaining support from the families of other victims, which she was hesitant to do. The documentary I saw a while ago I can't remember the name of it that one was really good too.
nobody really makes any noise about the case anymore and I don't understand why. Dr. Hackett in my opinion definitely knows more than he ever said.

I myself cannot let go of the doctor in my thoughts on it. I was going to say so earlier but was unsure of his name and my memory on the facts. Both the mother and was it not Gilbert's sister too that really have pushed the matter? Isn't this the case where the sister got a phone call from the killer or perhaps a prank one of someone pretending to be the killer of her sister?

I also can't let go of the thought of parties with bringing in prostitutes with more than one person involved in what is beyond the normal kink a prostitute may expect. Sorry for the term but for lack of a better one, what I mean is something resulting in abuse and death. Wasn't she offered a pretty high dollar amount to go out there? Gilbert, I mean. It brings me back to the thought of the the monied, powerful, etc. and a cover-up. And she had a driver/someone with her...

Yes, so much tragedy in that family. Sheree, that's right. She has been very much an advocate for her sister through the years, first along with her mother and now on her own. I don't recall for certain who received the phone call either.

One of the other victim's sister received a phone call from the killer. I remember the phone call being described as very obscene, the killer was speaking vulgar..if I remember correctly the speaker (claimed to be the killer) was calling the victim and sister vulgar, racist names...I'll have to Google which victim, maybe Melissa Bartholomew?
Eta I would like to add, also; not only were there (if I remember correctly) more than one phone call, but the call(s) were made to the sister shortly after the victim went missing...almost like the killer was taunting the victim while she was still alive.

I do remember the thing about the belt buckle but do admit I am not "fresh" with my recollections of everything in this case.

I do know with Shannon Gilbert the family was frustrated because LE wouldn't (don't think they have yet or have they?) consider her one of the LISK victims where the family feels/felt she likely was. Of course they weren't exactly on top of or into solving her case (it seemed and the family felt I think) and when the others came to light LE didn't even want to admit it could be or is a serial killer. This all is to the best of my recollection.

It's hard to believe that with all of these victims and the number of times this killer dumped bodies and the fact they all had to have made contact or had contact with "him", that they don't have anything or any trail in this case.

I know DutyRon on YT did a show or two some months back on this case. In one, he actually goes out to Long Island and Gilgo so a person gets to see the area, etc. In one show I know he touches on a lot of the facts, the investigation I think and it may have been that show.
