The partial skeleton of a woman was found on April 20, 1979 in West Haven, Connecticut. She was between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five when she died due to an unknown cause and nature, near a water processing plant. A black bra made from lace was the only article of clothing found, but she also had a folding alarm clock in her possession. WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – It’s been more than three decades since a woman’s body was found on water company property off Route 34 on April 20, 1979.

But police Tuesday released a forensic artist’s rendering of the woman, giving new life to the cold case.

“It’s always rewarding, especially on a case like this where you don’t have a lot of leads, or it’s so old to be able to get that aha moment,” said Peter Massy, who teaches forensic science at the University of New Haven.

The woman, who was white, was believed to be in her late teens or early 20s at the time of her death, police said.

Massey said much can be learned from the skeletal remains, even though they may have been there possibly eight years before they were discovered in 1979.

“By knowing the skull shape and the structure,” he said, “they can start to determine the race, male, female, different structures, age.”

It may not be an exact likeness but it should resemble the woman. Here’s more information about her:

She was 5-foot-1 to 5-foot-3 tall, had periodontal disease, several fillings and all wisdom teeth were congenitally missing. She may have also had congenitally missing lower vertebra and may have had arthritis and lower back pain. She was found with only a black laced bra and a folding travel alarm clock in hard red case.

Police are hoping that someone does have one of those aha moments and can help identify this woman. From there, police may finally be able to reconstruct what happened.

WEST HAVEN >> Police are hoping an image recently completed by forensic artists using facial reconstruction will help them identify a woman found dead 35 years ago in the New Haven Water Company property off Route 34 and allow detectives to close the cold case.

The woman is described as white and was estimated to be in her late teens to early 20s, police spokesman Sgt. David Tammaro said Tuesday. She was about 5 feet 1 inches to 5 feet 3 inches tall. The woman’s body was found April 20, 1979 adjacent to Route 34 (Derby Avenue). She had been dead for between one to eight years when she was found, according to police.

“We don’t have anything conclusive that may describe her manner of death,” Tammaro said. “We’re trying to identify her because we would like to close the case and notify any next of kin. If someone could identify her, we could develop leads and find out how she got to West Haven and possibly find a suspect.”

Police said the woman had periodontal disease and several fillings in her teeth. All of her wisdom teeth were congenitally missing. She may have had a missing lower vertebra, police said, and may also have had arthritis that would have caused some lower back pain.

Police said the facial reconstruction is an example of what she may have looked like.

The only clothing item found with her was a black lace bra. Also with her was a folding travel alarm clock in a hard red case.

Because of her advanced stage of decomposition, Tammaro said police are unable to determine her hair and eye colors and cause of death.

Tammaro said no missing persons descriptions and reports in recent years matched that of the found body.

“Detectives have been working on the case since the body was found and it was passed to different detectives over the years as the case went cold,” Tammaro said. “Detectives were in the area as recently as October because new bones were discovered and were determined to belong to the girl.”

The facial reconstruction was created by forensic artists at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Tammaro said the department is appealing to the help of the public to identify her. Police ask that anyone with information call the West Haven Police Department at 203-937-3900. Anyone providing information can do so anonymously, Tammaro said.

Did a Murderer of Two Have Even More Victims ?


Hadden Clark was an oddity in life, he never could find the right path. Instead he turned to one of evil and in separate instances brutally murdered 6 year old Michelle Dorr and 23 year old Laura Houghteling who both lived in the state of Maryland.

Clark admitted to the two slayings that occurred in Maryland and has told Law Enforcement that he has committed up to eleven more woman and girls across the Atlantic states. Law Enforcement in different states originally took the claims seriously.


In an odd twist that would be seen in most movies and TV shows. Clark and an inmate that he befriended were taken out to spots where Clark had claimed to bury more victims in the nineteen seventies and eighties.

The properties he showed them were on or near where relatives of his had homes at one time. Clark thought of his inmate friend as "Jesus Christ" and Clark himself was a cross dresser.


Law Enforcement were taken to locations on Wellfleet, Massachusetts on the Cape area of the state as well as the allegedly haunted West Peak mountain in Meriden. No bodies were found. Police began to doubt Clark and his visits to sites were stopped as he was deemed an escape threat.

To this day, Clark has also claimed to be the killer of an Unidentified woman in Provincetown, Massachusetts in 1974 called "The Lady of the Dunes". She was estimated to be around 145 pounds and 5 feet, six inches tall. She had long auburn or reddish hair that was tied in a ponytail with an elastic barrette. However, another convicted serial killer is also rumored to have killed her. Notorious Boston Gangster, James "Whitey" Bulger.

While Clark may have lead the police to spots where there were no bodies, he is an admitted and proven killer. He should still be taken seriously. His two victims were known and reported immediately missing. His other victims could be transients and never reported as missing persons.

One possible victim of a serial killer in Connecticut (Hadden Clark or not) could be that of an unidentified white female found in 1979 on property owned by the New Haven Water Company property which is next to Route 34/Derby Avenue. They estimate that she was between the ages 18 and 25. She was also missing her wisdom teeth congenitally missing and some fillings in others. She may had arthritis due to a possible missing vertebrae in her back. WEST HAVEN — Police said they are “very close” to identifying a woman found dead in April 1979 and appealed to the public for help in collecting donations to solve the 40-year-old case.

In an email Wednesday morning, West Haven police Sgt. Patrick Buturla shared the woman’s page on DNASolves, a genetic database that uses crowdfunding, volunteered data and science to help law enforcement agencies with unsolved cases.

“DNASolves relies on donations from people like you to solve cases nobody else can,” Buturla said. “Every donation helps a family get the closure they deserve.”
