Police seeking missing girl search area where discarded child seat was found

Dec. 26, 2019

ANSONIA, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut police have been searching for evidence in the case of a missing 1-year-old in the area where a discarded child’s car seat was recently found.

Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch confirmed to Hearst Connecticut Media that investigators were sent Monday to the BJ’s Wholesale Club on Division Street. He declined further comment “to maintain the integrity of the investigation.”

According to Hearst, a shopper spotted the car seat and reported it to police. Hearst said it appeared to look like the Graco car seat police last week asked people watch out for. At a Dec. 19 news conference, Lynch showed images of several items, including a Graco car seat with a teething ring attached. The items were not in the house when Holloway’s body was found.

“We believe these items may be with Vanessa or they may have been discarded at some point,” Lynch said last week. “If any of the items are located they should not be touched” and police should be immediately contacted.

Here is a fairly recent article confirming that the father has been arrested for the mother's murder and they are hoping this spurs some information on the child. Just a short article about 18 hours ago.

Search continues for Connecticut toddler missing for 6 months

It’s been six months since a Connecticut toddler went missing.

Police said their investigation into her disappearance is still active and they believe Vanessa is alive.

“Our detectives are very much still very actively investigating it. Our goal is to find Vanessa and bring her home to her family,” said Lt. Patrick Lynch.

Police said Morales hasn’t told them anything about his daughter’s whereabouts.

“We believe he has information and were hoping at some point, hell provide us with the information thatll help us find Vanessa,” said Lt. Lynch.

Police are reminding the public about items missing from the home, including a Graco car seat, a polka dot blanket, a Eddie Bauer backpack/diaper bag and a teething ring.

“We just ask that people keep a lookout for that and contact us. It doesn’t matter whether you believe its inconsequential or not, we can make that determination. We’d rather go and look at something that doesn’t have anything to do with the case than miss something that could help us find Vanessa,” said Lt. Lynch.

There is still a $10,000 reward for information leading to Vanessa’s return and he family continues to hold out hope.

‘Peanut, we’re still looking for you’: Family pleads for help finding Vanessa Morales

Sunday marks eight months and counting for the nightmare consuming Jodi Jacobellis and her family: the disappearance of Vanessa Morales.

“It’s been s tough eight months not knowing where Vanessa is, being without Chrissy,” Jacobellis said.

Ansonia police said they continue to get new tips but not as many now since the beginning of their search in December.

They believe Vanessa is still alive because of some baby items that were taken when Vanessa disappeared — a Greco car seat, a polka-dotted blanket, a grey-colored Eddie Bauer book bag or diaper bag and teething rings that may be in that bag. None of those items have been found thrown away on the street or in a garbage dumpster.

There’s a $10,000 reward for Vanessa’s safe return. Both the family and police said whoever had Vanessa will not face punishment. They all just want her returned safe and sound.

Vanessa Morales, missing toddler, turns 2 years old

Supporters and well-wishers of the little toddler who disappeared after the murder of her mother are marking a special event on Monday.

Vanessa Morales turned 2 years old on Sept. 7. Instead of a birthday cake and candles, the anniversary of her birth was being marked by prayers and renewed calls for information about her whereabouts.

“Sweet peanut, two years ago today you entered this world,” wrote a family member, Danielle Marie McCormack, “September 7th will always be a good day. It’s the day you entered our hearts and because of that we are forever changed. Happy Birthday my peanut. Please know we are here, we aren’t going anywhere and we love and miss you beyond words.”

Ansonia police are still investigating the little girl’s disappearance and believe she is alive. Authorities have asked anyone with information about her whereabouts to call Ansonia police at 203-735-1885 or the FBI at 1-800-225-5324.
