Police activate endangered missing advisory for 18-month-old boy

South Salt Lake Police and the Division of Child and Family Services say they believe an 18-month-old missing boy may in danger and in the presence of a fugitive wanted for murder.

They have activated a Utah Endangered Missing Advisory for Stafon Dshawn Coleman, Jr.

The Executive Officer with South Salt Lake Police, Danielle Croyle, said the child could be in California, Texas or Utah. He was last seen with relatives in Texas on May 24, 2022.

Police believe the child may be with his father, also named Stafon Dshawn Coleman.

Police said the child left the state with his mother, Liana Blas on or about May 20, 2022. But an investigation found that the mother has returned to Utah without Stafon.

Blas has not disclosed to police the whereabouts of Stafon. They believe the child may be with Stafon Dshawn Coleman, Sr., believed to be the child’s father but who does not have legal custody of the child.

South Salt Lake Police say the father may be traveling with two other people, his half-brother, Terell Jones and McKenna Cummins. Both Jones and Cummins are also fugitives according to police, with outstanding arrest warrants for murder.

All three adults, Coleman, Jones and Cummins should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police looking for missing endangered toddler, son of wanted fugitive out of South Salt Lake

Police are searching for a toddler who they say is endangered and believed to be traveling with his father, who is wanted in connection to a South Salt Lake homicide.

Stafon Dyshawn Coleman, Jr. is about 18 months old and 25 pounds. He was last seen by relatives in El Paso, Texas with his mother at the end of May. The child has black hair, brown eyes and police are unsure of what clothing he may be in.

On May 9, the boy's father, Stafon Dyshawn Coleman was named as one of the suspects involved in a homicide in South Salt Lake. Also named as suspects were his half-brother, Terell Jones, and Terell’s girlfriend Mckennalyn Cummins.

Days after Coleman was named a suspect, he and his girlfriend Liana Blas, who was pregnant at the time, fled the state along with the toddler. On May 24, the group reportedly was spotted in Texas.

Police say "several attempts" to locate the child and check on his welfare have not been successful.

On Aug. 10, police contacted Blas who refused to tell officials where Stafon (Jr.) was at the time. Officials say the toddler may with his father or with Jones and Cummins.

Blas herself was arrested on Wednesday for obstruction of justice for allegedly helping the suspects escape. Coleman and Jones' mother was also arrested, along with her husband.

South Salt Lake police seek tips on locations of ‘armed and dangerous’ murder suspects

South Salt Lake Police officers are asking the public to share tips to help them find three suspect in the May 9 shooting death of Romeo Charles Williams, 26.

Already in custody and charged is Damian Stafon Coleman, 27, who faces initial charges of murder and aggravated robbery, both first-degree felonies.

Damian was identified, in part, because of the car he was driving when he allegedly picked up the other suspects after the shooting, in the area of 2193 S. Main St.

The suspects being sought are:
  • Mckennalyn Elizabeth Cummins, 24, who is known to frequent the Weber, Box Elder, and Davis County areas, and specifically Roy in Weber County.
  • Terell Dayshawn Jones, 30, known to frequent Weber and Davis counties, and specifically Roy. Jones has a young child with Cummins, the statement says.
  • Stafon Dshawn Coleman, 21, half brother of Jones, and also known to frequent Weber County, especially Roy, and Davis County.
The shooting happened at about 10:14 p.m. on May 9, a Monday, and followed an attempted robbery, according to Damian Coleman’s probable cause statement:

“Surveillance video from Winco recorded the fact that R.S. (Romeo Stevens) was chased through the parking lot by two male suspects and onto Main Street where he was shot,” the police statement says.

According to information released Friday from the South Salt Lake Police Department, Stafon Dshawn Coleman (JR) fled the state with his parents — Stafon Dshawn Coleman (SR) and Liana Blas, who was five-months pregnant at the time — two days after a man was found shot and killed near WinCo in South Salt Lake.

Thirteen days later on May 24, Blas showed up at her mother’s house in El Paso, Texas with Stafon (JR). Police said she indicated that she was also traveling with Stafon (SR). Late that evening, Blas left the home with Stafon (JR).

“Several attempts to locate Stafon (JR) and check his welfare have not been successful,” SSLPD stated in its release. On Aug. 10, police finally made contact with Blas, who was present with her newborn child, but Stafon (JR) was not there.

“Liana refused to provide both police and the DCFS with the current location/whereabouts and/or persons who have Stafon (JR).”

“As Liana is uncooperative, Stafon’s medical condition(s) are unknown.”

What a winning bunch--NOT. Why does she have her newborn but did not bring the missing child back with her??!!! The other couple has a child together and it doesn't sound like they are wondering where that child is either and so WHY is only the one child unaccounted for...??? It sounds like mom wasn't involved in the murders until she helped them "escape" and took her son with while pregnant too. But she came back, WHY? And has the newborn... OR came back and then had the newborn. Did she really think she could come back and not be arrested after assisting them? So ya have three murderers on the run with an 18 month old IF that 18 month old is alive and well.... Mom coming back without him and leaving him with them doesn't sit well...

No mention of the child...

Roy parents, girlfriend of wanted murder suspects charged with helping them on the run

Three people who police say have have helped three wanted murder suspects avoid arrest are now facing criminal charges themselves.

Damian Stafon Coleman Sr., 49, Liana Deleon Guerrero Blas, 20, and Kenya Susette Coleman, 47, all of Roy, were charged Monday in 3rd District Court with obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony.

Damian Coleman Jr. and Stafon Coleman are brothers. Damian Coleman Sr. is their father, Kenya Coleman is their stepmother and Blas is Stafon Coleman's girlfriend, according to court records,

After the shooting, police went to the Colemans' residence in Roy and talked to the parents. Kenya Coleman "initially denied even knowing who Damian was" while the father denied knowing anything about the suspected getaway vehicle, even though the car was registered in his name, charging documents state.

Through their investigation, police learned that Blas fled to Las Vegas, California, and Texas with Jones and Stafon Coleman and believe she may have also been in Arizona.

"She continued to make attempts to locate housing for both her and Stafon outside of Utah, despite knowing that a warrant had been issued for his arrest and that he was a suspect in a murder case," the charges state.

Prosecutors also noted that Coleman Sr. "has lied to police officers concerning critical facts of this case, has admittedly traveled across state lines to meet with other parties, assist with the continued flight of his sons and daughter-in-law, who are murder suspects and obtain new phones and other instrumentalities to communicate with the fugitives and other parties while the fugitives remain on the run," the charges state,

Scumbags. Complete trash. Multiple people lying and or keeping information from the police about a child. Especially the mother. Lock them all up. They are hiding information obviously. And I believe it's because he's dead. And, SINCE MAY?! Almost 3 mths ago. Yeah.

4th person, suspects' sister, arrested for obstruction of justice in South Salt Lake homicide

The sister of two at-large suspects allegedly involved in a deadly shooting in South Salt Lake over three months ago has been arrested, becoming the fourth person now accused of interfering with the investigation.

Alexus Lillie Nicole Coleman, 20, was arrested Monday on suspicion of obstructing justice, a 2nd-degree felony.

According to the arrest report, Alexus allowed her mom to use her CashApp account to send money to relatives in California, who police believe then gave the money to Stafon Coleman and Terell Jones.

Police also said she lied to them about her brothers' whereabouts, as well as the whereabouts of Stafon's girlfriend, Liana Blas, who was also arrested last week for obstruction of justice. She was known by police to have been traveling with Stafon after the shooting, but Alexus reportedly told them that Liana had not left the family's home in Roy.

In addition, police say she lied to them about Stafon and Liana's newborn child, who they say was born sometime between the shooting and Aug. 10.

"Alexus claimed Liana had her newest baby at a hospital in Bountiful. This is a lie because it is known that Liana had a baby in Arizona. Alexus went with her father who was identified as Damian Coleman Sr. to Arizona to retrieve Liana and her new born child," a probable cause affidavit stated. "This baby is listed on NCIC as a missing endangered child as a result of not knowing where the infant is and the fact the baby's father is a known fugitive with a homicide warrant."

Alexus Coleman is being held without bail.

Meanwhile, as police continue to search for the three at-large suspects and the infant, they are also concerned about the well-being of Stafon's biological son, 18-month-old Stafon Dyshawn Coleman Jr. Authorities say Stafon Sr. does not have legal custody of the toddler.

So the infant is missing too???

I'm sorry but this family sounds like quite the bunch. I don't doubt they "love" each other but the 20 year old sister is involved too?? Dad, mom, sister, brother and more. TWO children MISSING now??

Oh and let's not FORGET some relatives in Cali that then gave the money wired to the fugitives or so it is suspected!

Trio remains at large with toddler after May homicide in SSL grocery store parking lot
The focus of this week’s At Large: Utah’s Fugitives is a trio wanted in connection with a homicide in the parking lot of a grocery store that happened back in May.

A toddler caught in the middle of this is missing and believed to be with his father, Stafon Dshawn Coleman, 21, who is one of the suspects. South Salt Lake Police are worried sick about this child and need the public’s help to find all of them.

South Salt Lake Police Executive Officer Danielle Croyle had this to say about Coleman, “We’re considering him a violent felon; a weapon was used in this homicide.” SSLPD is hoping tips come in that will help locate the murder suspects who have been criminally charged so they can stand trial in the killing of Romeo Charles Stevens.

Stafon Dshawn Coleman’s son, Stafon Junior, a toddler has not been seen since. According to South Salt Lake Police, two days after Stevens was murdered, Stafon Dshawn Coleman and his girlfriend Liana Blas who was five-months pregnant fled Utah with their 18-month-old son, Stafon Dshawn Coleman Jr.

A few weeks later, on May 24th Blas showed up at her mother’s house in El Paso, Texas with her son. Police say she indicated she was traveling with Stafon Dshawn Coleman, the murder suspect but left late that night with her son.

Fast forward to August 10th, the day she was arrested, Blas refused to tell police and the Division of Child and Family Services where the toddler was or who he was with. Police believe he is with his dad, who is wanted for murder and say he is not the child’s legal guardian.

“That is a huge concern for us. We are concerned for his welfare, we are concerned for his wellbeing, his health concerns,” says Croyle.

Stafon Jr. is around 18-months old. He is twenty-four inches tall and weighs about twenty-five pounds. Croyle says it is not clear if the toddler has any medical conditions as his mother, Blas has not cooperated and therefore, it is not known.

Stafon's NCMEC page has been removed. I can't find him listed as missing with Texas DPS or Utah BCI.
No public updates since September.
Going to presume he's been located with no public update, but will keep looking for updates for a few days before moving the thread.

Thank you very much for the update. That doesn't sound good. I don't remember a child being removed without an announcement.

Confirmation.
