Wondering why they would be staying dod was prior to 2020 when she had a mask that wasn't just a standard issue medical mask. Wouldn't most of us state it was 2020 at the earliest?

It's a pretty big time gap 2018-2023. She may have had breathing problems. I've seen people wear them because of that. But they can't tell with an autopsy now.
 
Question/comment. I thought an ME could at least estimate height from skeletal remains. Is that wrong?

NAMUS says complete or near complete skeleton.
That would depend on what specific remains were left OR their ME is not as qualified as we would expect/hope.

Skeletal remains found in Shawnee in 2023 have been identified.

On May 20, 2024, Shawnee PD announced that the M.E. has positively identified the remains.

Officials say the remains have been identified as Christianna Laniel, born October 10, 1994, who had gone missing from Checotah, Oklahoma.

Shawnee Police identify human bones found in December​

Laniel was last seen in July of 2022 when police were asking for help in finding her.

It appears that whomever did the "investigating" on this case did no actual work here. They assumed prior to 2020 even though she wore a mask. They said they could not determine height or hair color, too. :sigh:
