Missing 10-year-old Mt. Airy girl

Philadelphia police still have not found Qadr Williamson, a 10-year-old girl who disappeared from her Mt. Airy neighborhood on the morning of Thursday Oct. 21 while she was walking to school, leaving friends and neighbors feeling desperately worried.

Officials say the child’s foster mother last saw Qadr when she left her home on the 300 block of Glen Echo Road for the Henry Houston elementary school on Allens Lane, where she is in the 5th grade. She is 5' 5" tall and is believed to be wearing black pants, a black shirt, a blue hoodie and black sneakers. According to posts on social media, she was walking to school with two siblings when she disappeared.

A group of about 30 concerned neighbors, including members of the school’s parents association, have been knocking on doors and passing out leaflets to try and find Qadr. They are also asking people who live in the vicinity to check their security camera footage for any clues about what might have happened to her.

“Both the Houston Community and our surrounding Mount Airy community are distraught about 10-year-old Qadr Williamson’s disappearance,” the association’s co-presidents, Emily Pugliese and Monique Smith, said in a statement on Monday. “Her classmates and teachers are gutted and full of worry for her safety. Our Lincoln Drive neighbors are missing the vibrant little girl who regularly stopped to chat on her way to and from school.”

“We are hopeful that someone out there has camera footage from Thursday morning or noticed Qadr deviating from her usual path to school,” the statement said. “We are all wishing for Qadr to be found safe and sound and want her to know that she is loved and that she matters to this neighborhood and this school community.”

Another neighbor who has been looking for Qadr said the children would sometimes walk up Lincoln Drive and sometimes up Cresheim Street on the 10 minute walk to school. She also could have cut across W. Mt. Airy, Nippon or Charlton Streets.

In one picture she looks like a young 10 year old girl, just a child/baby, and I had to double check if the other picture was of her after first seeing it, I thought it might be an adult or a teacher, neighbor, etc., because the pictures are so very different.

Philly.

A foster family, I don't suppose we know how long she had been there or the circumstances. My first thought is she is young but old enough to try to run off, run away or try to go home, etc.

She was walking with her siblings? Next thought naturally is they must have some idea of when she went missing or how... The siblings I mean.

Praying she is found safe. Not the first child to go missing lately there they say...

Places/big cities like Indy and Philly are so inundated with daily crime and daily murders, I don't have a lot of faith and I have a lot of cynicism when it is somewhere like this. The first flush, if they find her now while they may have some time to focus on her case for a few moments before how many other murders overwhelm LE, is their best chance.

Jmo of course on first read.

There is only one picture of Qadr....
Do you mean the picture from the article? That's a different missing child, a 16-year-old.

Yep. What do they have to say? Clearly they'd know if she walked off, if a car pulled up and she got in, or whatever.

I looked back. Saw two pics side by side and they had her name above, I tried to be sure before I remarked. Went into every link too. I did not think it could be the same girl but I tried to double check. I likely have it wrong.

Yes, the siblings have to know something. I don't mean involved, just have some info of when she was with them and how she came not to be and when she last was.

Whereabouts of a missing fifth-grader still unknown

Philadelphia police still have not found Qadr Williamson, the 10-year-old girl who went missing two weeks ago from the 300 block of Glen Echo Road, where she was living with a foster family. Qadr was last seen walking to the Henry Houston Elementary School on Allens Lane, where she is in the fifth grade.

At a press conference last week, Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said no “Amber Alert,” for the child has been issued for Qadr because police do not believe she is “in imminent danger.”

“We believe that she left the neighborhood voluntarily and may now be in the care of relatives,” Outlaw said at the press conference.

As of press time on Tuesday, however, police could not say exactly where Qadr is, or who is caring for her.

“This is a very unfortunate situation; however, I can assure you the Northwest Detective Division is diligently working towards her being reunited with her home family/home,” police spokesman Eric McLaurin stated in an email. “Thanks for your continued thoughts and concerns during this situation.”

Well I hope they are right. I am going to give the benefit of the doubt. If they are not right and she is in danger, I wouldn't want to be LE. I suspect if they are saying that though that they know she was perhaps leaving or running away from the foster home and then perhaps the siblings knew and filled LE in and/or LE is in touch with the family members or there is perhaps a go between...? I really don't think they would say this otherwise...

FBI Joins Search For Missing 10-Year-Old Philadelphia Girl Qadr Williams

A candlelight vigil was held in Mount Airy Wednesday night as a community prays for the safe return of a missing 10-year old girl. Qadr Williams has been missing for three weeks.

Investigators say the 10-year old was last seen on her way to Houston School in Mount Airy three weeks ago. Philadelphia police confirm the FBI is involved in the investigation.

While details of Qadr’s disappearance are limited, community members say they want to keep spreading the word to bring her home.

“There’s been a little bit too much silence on it from my opinion and I know it’s a delicate situation that’s evolving, but this is a 10-year-old little girl who is missing,” Pugliese said.

“Even though it wasn’t my child that as a community we should care when a child is in danger or hurt or they don’t know for sure where her whereabouts are,” a woman said.

As the days go on, they hope Qadr knows they never stopped caring.

“We live in a place where people care about each other,” a woman said.

If a child falls in the street someone is going to pick them up. People stop to help,” said another.

Philadelphia Community Members Continue Search For Missing 10-Year-Old Qadr Williamson

The search continues for missing 10-year-old Qadr Williamson. Community members went looking for clues Saturday, convinced someone saw something when the child went missing along a busy Lincoln Drive.

Three weeks after Qadr went missing, there’s still no word on what could’ve happened to the 10-year-old.

“All I really want is for her to come home,” Musa Bey, Qadr’s godfather, said.

Volunteers spent much of Saturday afternoon posting and handing out flyers and tying ribbons in her favorite color, purple.

“Even at 10 years old, she still was believing in fairytales and princess,” Bey said. “She’s a smart kid. She loves science.”

The group walked the route from the bus stop to Qadr’s school with a mission.

“We’re going to knock on some doors, we’re going to some businesses and just to see if somebody has seen her,” Jones said. “If anybody may have had some video of that particular day and that particular time.”

“Just know that we are going to continue to look for you,” Davis said. “We will never stop looking for you.”
