BIA, FBI Seeking Missing Child Mildred Old Crow

The Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are asking for the public’s help locating Mildred Alexis Old Crow, age 8, of the Crow Indian Reservation.

The search for Mildred began on November 19, 2020, when Mildred’s non-custodial relatives notified BIA Law Enforcement at Crow Agency that they had not seen the child since July of 2018.

Subsequent investigation revealed that Mildred was last seen in March of 2019 on the Crow Indian Reservation, in the care of her Crow Tribal Court-appointed guardian.

Mildred has brown hair, brown eyes and is small in stature for her age.

BILLINGS (AP) — The body of a missing girl has been found on the Crow Indian Reservation.

Tribal Chairman Frank White Clay tells KULR-TV that the body of 8-year-old Mildred Old Crow was found.

Montana's Department of Justice issued a missing and endangered person advisory for Mildred in November 2020, but she had last been seen on the reservation in March 2019.

Two women were charged in tribal court in January with a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child. A charge of custodial interference was added in February.

The women were granted informal custodianship over Mildred in March 2017.

Someone needs to start explaining - STAT!

A vigil for Mildred "Milly" Old Crow was held Monday night at the City Hall in Lodge Grass.

People gathered to honor the memory of eight-year-old Mildred, who has been missing for almost two years.

Someone who attended the vigil said the event was also attended by Crow Tribal Chairman Frank White Clay, Mayor of Lodge Grass Quincy Dabney and Speaker of the House Thomas Yellowtail.

They said the event started with an opening prayer by Pastor James Takes Horse, followed by a reflection of the life of Mildred by her uncle's Darrin Old Coyote and Sylvan "Buzzy" Covers Up. Both spoke about the investigation and autopsy, as well as how the family wanted to come together to remember the life of Mildred.

A Crow Spiritual Hymn was sung by the Black Whistle Singers and Mildred's uncles, followed by the lighting of the candles to honor Mildred.

Pink and purple balloons were released in Mildred's memory as well.

To close, a prayer was spoken in the traditional Crow language by nine-year-old Tyon Gros Ventre.

I'm pretty sure that if she was found outside they would have only found her from a tip/confession. That ground would be frozen solid at that time. That and/or they didn't find her outside. :(

She was not found outside. She was in an abandoned camper trailer.

The body of Mildred Old Crow was discovered Thursday morning in an abandoned travel trailer in Garryowen.

The child was placed in the care of her biological aunt Roseen Lincoln-Old Crow, 34, and her wife Tierza Dust, 34, by the Crow Tribal Court in March 2017.

Two women convicted of charges connected to 8-year-old's disappearance

Less than two months after a child's body was discovered on Crow Reservation, two women are convicted in tribal court of charges in connection to the disappearance of 8-year-old Mildred Old Crow.

Veronica Dust and Roseen Old Crow are convicted of endangering the welfare of a child and custodial interference.

Both women are sentenced to 18 months in jail and will be required to pay a $2,000 dollar fine.

Both charges are misdemeanors, the only type of charges allowed to be tried in Tribal court.

On Feb. 17, the body of a child was found on the Crow Reservation.

The Big Horn County Sheriff's office says available evidence strongly suggests the body is that of Mildred Old Crow.

Investigators are awaiting the results of DNA testing before they can confirm the body is in fact that of Mildred Old Crow.

Charges have not been filed in state or federal court at this time.

Pretty light. Hope more information, evidence and charges are coming. The child is dead.

I didn't realize that they hadn't officially identified the body as Milly. I'm sure once the body is confirmed to be her via DNA, murder charges will follow.
I guess I never though about that, I was rather hot about the 18 months. It does say they strongly suspect the body is hers. It does make sense they would not charge until having DNA and it is good I guess they found a way to put them away in the meantime. I mean assuming they did something to her which does seem likely.

I guess they feel like they have time since they can keep them in jail for other charges.

I was kind of surprised that MSM Claimed they were so certain that it was her remains that were found. She was so young that she wouldn’t have had ID on her, and her state of decomposition would’ve been hard to recognize her.

Good news that they are confident enough to be able to name them in the public arena.
