I've never heard of selling a home in absentia however Jake Cefolia did.
i sure would be investigating this "power of attorney" document AND questioning what happened to the sales proceeds.

"Despite Cefolia being a missing person, the house was able to go under contract and make it to a closing and sell because in May 2018, Cefolia gave power of attorney for property to a relative, Rudy Piedra. A document authorizing Piedra with those powers was
recorded with DuPage County at the same time as the Nov. 5 sale."

They can identify psychopaths with MRI's now. People like this kid should be tested and never let out of jail ever.
There was a doctor that did brain scans and analyzed them and could tell when a brain was from a psychopath. His friends and family brought up they thought he had some traits. He had his scan done. Was going through some scans and saw one with psychopathic traits. It was his scan. LOL. True story

Jake Cefolia disappearance: United Airlines executive missing for one year

It's now been exactly a year since a former United Airlines Executive from Elmhurst disappeared.

For months, investigators have not said much, while trying to determine if Jake Cefolia voluntarily went off the grid, or if there is foul play.

Through several FOIA requests, we learned there was a possible sighting of Cefolia at a golf resort in Idaho just one week after he went missing.

Security cam footage from the Coeur d'Alene Golf Resort recorded on Aug. 15, 2020 shows a man resembling Cefolia, who some--but not all--family members believe was him.

Two days later, Elmhurst Police received a phone call saying Cefolia was spotted near the resort's pro shop.

The caller told police the man he saw had the "same style hair" and "same type of glasses" as Cefolia, but when police showed the video to his family, they say some thought it was him while others did not.

FOX 32 has also received dozens of new photos police took while processing his 2019 Land Rover.

In addition to finding a jacket, golf clubs and cash in the car, they also found a bottle of an herbal supplement taken to calm the nervous system.

According to FOIA documents, a friend of Cefolia's told police he struggled with anxiety and started seeing a therapist just two weeks before he went missing.

One of Cefolia's coworkers also told police Cefolia was "under immense amounts of stress" because he had to take a 50 percent pay cut, with the same amount of child support to pay, and that he was "worried because he was in charge of laying off a large number of United employees due to economic downturn."

"Nobody’s heard from him . he’s acting very out of character," his ex-wife is heard telling 9-1-1 operators in reporting him missing last August.

FOX 32 contacted the Cefolia family through a private investigator, who only said they are monitoring the search for Cefolia that is being conducted by the Elmhurst Police Department.

Human remains found at forest preserve where missing United Airlines executive's car was found last year

Human remains were found at a DuPage County forest preserve Friday, and it is unknown at this time if the remains are those of missing United Airlines executive Jake Cefolia.

According to DuPage Forest Preserve District Police, the remains were found by contractors working at the preserve.

The remains were found south of the youth-group campground at Waterfall Glen, and authorities said they cannot be visually identified.

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County Law Enforcement Department is leading the death investigation, however, the Elmhurst Police Department has also been notified as they had filed a missing persons report for Cefolia on Aug. 8, 2020.

A source close to the investigation told CrimeOnline that electrical workers surveying a remote area of the preserve, reportedly far off hiking trails, discovered what appeared to be a human skeleton hanging from a tree. The source said that authorities will compare the jaw of the skull to Cefolia’s dental records to determine a possible match, and indicated that forensic analysts may be working on Friday and possibly through the weekend in an effort to quickly identify the remains — or rule out a connection to Cefolia’s disappearance.

The contractors were removing invasive species in the area when they came across "human remains hanging from a low hanging tree," said Chief David Pederson with the Forest Preserve District Police.

"The human remains were located in a very thick covered brush area, extremely, so you can be 10 feet away and not see it," Pederson told NBC 5. "Obviously the foliage is starting to drop this time of year, these contractors were working in a very thick area..."

The forest preserve was the same location where Cefolia's car was found after he was reported missing.

Cefolia was reported missing on Aug. 8, 2020.

yes, people don't seem to really understand how things can be overlooked in an area that was searched. Sometimes brush and other vegetation can be so thick, you can't see through it which means you can't see what might be IN it, also. Plus they were most likely looking down instead of up most of the time. Every search I have seen in a thick area, they never really seem to get much off the thinner areas. This is why so many are found when the leaves start dying back.

It can be frustrating. Many people assume search and rescue has a high success rate, and if they don't find the person, then the person must not be there. In reality, it's very likely that they will be overlooked or even walked past within feet and not seen. Many people are found in areas that had been previously searched. Not because it was criminal and they were dumped there afterward. Simply because they were missed the first time. Or even first several times.

This is how "Missing 411" got so big. People want some explanation to believe. It's a crock of poop IMO. Disappearances in the woods is not aliens. It's not bigfoot. It's not some big government conspiracy. It's not something supernatural. People get lost and not found. All the time.

when we had our jail break akitas, they always went back to the woods/creek area. While I could hear where they were and knew they were close, I could not see them through the dense brush and leaves. I mean they were only yards away even!
