Search intensifies in Two Rivers for missing 3-year-old boy, Elijah Vue

The search continues for a missing three-year-old boy in Two Rivers.

An Amber Alert has been issued for Elijah Vue who was last seen by his adult caregiver at 8 a.m. Tuesday at his home in the 3900 block of Mishicot Road. This is near Forest View Cemetery and Holy Cross Cemetery.

Police have said there are no family members or associates in in the area.

As of 7 a.m. Wednesday, police say they do not have any updates to report.

There is a police presence at the cemeteries.

Residents organized a search party Wednesday morning near 39th street and Martin Lane, the area where the boy was last seen.

Sue Hett, who lives nearby, says she felt like she had to help look for Elijah who is possibly out there with no shoes and no jacket.

“The outpouring yesterday was unbelievable. They had the SWAT team set up in the cemetery and a lot of police, a lot of everybody, but the people, cars, constant looking down each little street, people going slow, people on foot, I’ve never seen such an outpouring, and then the helicopter came, was right over our house and I think they were going up and down the river but we just got to find some answers," she said.

Authorities are asking neighbors to check outbuildings, vehicles or other concealed areas on their property. Anyone with a doorbell camera is also asked to check to see if Elijah shows up on the video.

A man who lives at the same Mishicot Road address from where Elijah Vue went missing Tuesday morning, Jesse Vang, was also taken into custody last night.

The inmate report does not list the potential charges. Elijah Vue was last seen at 8:00 Tuesday morning.

Seemed clear from the beginning when it was said a "caregiver", seen it too many times and cynical that that was an instant alert.

Now we have a parent and "significant other" in jail.

This is my home state.

They all hit home. Hard. As they should. To all.

We need to never get to where we would ever think, oh just another child I didn't know and it is so common these days.

They are all awful. All hit hard, some way harder than others but all hard whether it reminds you of a murdered child and age, a name and age, if one is a grandparent or parent that never had such a loss but can imagine it as they have children and/or fear such as all do, as well as people who never had children, child cases hit the worst. Imo. And they should. They should aLWAYS hit the worst. If that ever stops, then people have truly gotten so cold and enured to it that all hope is lost.

This one sounded off from the outset. Caregiver. And nothing about last independent sighting.

Anyone have any hope in this one? I have little and didn't from the start.

We shouldn't ever not have them hit home, and care how the system works as well. Been watching and managed to a LOT of Harmony's case catching up before and after work, but not a thing has made me forget either the failures of the workers and system who placed her in her father's clutches and of everyone around her. A TON of hard things to listen to in that one. Hard isn't the word. For anyone.

Praying for a guilty verdict there.

I pray this boy is alive but can't find a single reason to think it likely. Sadly. Hope I am wrong. This is one that who even knows when he really went missing isn't it?

Unanswered questions persist on day three of Wisconsin toddler's disappearance
There are still many unanswered questions on day three in the search for a missing three-year-old boy in Wisconsin.

Elijah Vue was last seen by his adult caregiver at 8 a.m. Tuesday at his home in the 3900 block of Mishicot Road. He was reported missing to the Two Rivers Police Department and an AMBER Alert was activated Tuesday afternoon.

As of Thursday morning, the boy is still missing.

Two Rivers Police held a news conference Wednesday night, ensuring the public they are following up on leads, searching the area and combing through neighborhoods, parks and wooded areas.

Police also asked the public to "refrain from spreading rumors and false information" as doing so can hinder search efforts for Vue. Police emphasized that all official facts and information will come from them.

Community members have been pulling together in their own searches for Vue. A search party was held Wednesday morning and a prayer vigil was held Wednesday night at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish.

Amber Alert: Police seek child neglect charge against mother of Elijah Vue

The mother of a missing child could face a potential charge related to child neglect. A hearing was scheduled for 12:45 p.m. in Manitowoc County court, but Action 2 News has confirmed that the scheduled court appearance is canceled and their court information was sealed.

Police were seeking a charge of “party to a crime of child neglect” against Katrina Baur, the mother of Elijah Vue, who is the subject of an Amber Alert.

Baur has not yet been officially charged. The formal charges are up to the district attorney’s office.

Action 2 News has learned law enforcement is recommending a child abuse charge against a second person in court. We are not identifying him because we have not confirmed a connection. We do know he was arrested at 11:28 Tuesday night, 12½ hours after Elijah was reported missing, and Elijah’s mother was arrested four hours after that, at 3:48 in the morning on Wednesday, according to the Manitowoc County Clerk of Courts.

In a briefing Wednesday night, we heard from the Two Rivers Police Department about the ongoing search efforts for 3-year-old Elijah. He remains missing.

This was a very short news conference at Two Rivers city hall, lasting roughly about seven minutes. While police wouldn’t answer any questions, they did confirm that the search for Elijah remains active and ongoing.

While police spent much of the day at an apartment complex on Mishicot Road, retrieving potential evidence in the area where the 3-year-old was last seen, they also went on camera for the first time Wednesday night assuring the public they haven’t given up hope.

Evil pieces of excrement. I can say a few things good about my state in general. I won't go into such now but they are under arrest and he has not been found yet but they are jailed and some info is known. I will give the same credit in Audrii's. Kudos to them.

Search efforts for Elijah Vue continued Thursday, more than 48 hours since an Amber Alert was issued for the missing 3-year-old.

FBI agents in hazmat suits searched through the waste while heavy machinery worked near a blue tent. The landfill is nearly 40 miles west from where Elijah was last seen.

The FBI told WISN 12 News they are assisting Two Rivers police in their investigation and search for the missing boy but would not say what, if anything, they found.

Watch: News Chopper 12 flew over Calumet County as the FBI and police combed through a landfill in Hilbert.

<snip>
Tuesday night, a WISN 12 News crew observed investigators collect a small, slip-on shoe with dinosaurs on it from the ground at the side of the apartment building. The shoe matches the description of what authorities said Elijah was last seen wearing.

The Manitowoc District Attorney's office told 12 News they are reviewing the case.
