Law enforcement searching for missing Alamosa resident

The Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are searching for Cheyenne Goins of Alamosa, who was reported missing by her family on August 12, 2021.

The Sheriff’s Office and the CBI are concerned foul play may be involved.

It’s believed several people were in contact with Goins the night she went missing, including the suspect in the officer-involved shooting in Northglenn on Wednesday, August 18, 2021.

Although the suspect in the Northglenn incident was a person of interest in Goins’ disappearance, there were no formal charges at the time of the incident.

Police concerned about ‘foul play’ in disappearance of 21-year-old woman

The Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding a 21-year-old woman who went missing.

The sheriff’s office said that Cheyenne Goins was in contact with several people the night she went missing, including a suspect in an officer-involved shooting in Thornton on Aug. 18.

Her family tells us she was last seen at a bar in Alamosa on Aug. 8. She was seen hanging with friends that night and then went silent.

“As soon as we found out that she hadn’t been posting anything. We automatically knew that something happened,” her sister Mandy Goins-Gonzales said.

That concern intensified after police shot a man in Thornton this week, they say was a suspect in Goins’ disappearance.

Witnesses said the man pulled out a gun before he was shot by officers.

“When I did hear that it did make me anxious. It made me really overwhelmed. She means everything to me. She is like my ray of sunshine. And with her missing and being gone and (her disappearance) been really hard,” her sister Ali Goins said.

Police are not releasing any other details about the man’s possible involvement in Goins’ disappearance other than he had reportedly been seen with her when she was last seen.

Family members describe her as a spirited sister who loves to dance and sing. She has a 3-year-old son.

” Somebody knows what happened where Cheyenne is. What happened to her. Please help us find Cheyene and help my family find my sister and bring her home,” Goins-Gonzales said.

There’s also a young man missing from the area but the cases don’t appear to be related.

Missing 21-year-old from Alamosa found dead

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation says a 21-year-old woman who was reported missing from Alamosa earlier this month has been found dead.

CBI said in an update on Tuesday that Cheyenne Goins' remains were found in a "clandestine grave in a remote area in Alamosa County" near Highways 160 and 150.

Goins' death has been ruled a homicide by the El Paso County Coroner's Office, according to the CBI, but the cause of her death wasn't released.

One person, Lucas Antonio Salas, was considered a person of interest in Goins' disappearance, but he was killed in a shooting by a police officer in Northglenn on Aug. 18. CBI says Salas hasn't been connected to Goins' homicide and no arrests have been made.

No other details were given, and CBI said the investigation is still ongoing.

I wonder if they got a tip? Clandestine means it was secret so how did they find her?

Officers justified in fatal shooting on golf course, DA says

A Thornton officer and a Northglenn officer will not be charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a homicide suspect on a golf course last August in part because the suspect fired at officers and demonstrated that he would use "any means possible" to evade officers.

The 17th district attorney, Brian Mason, outlined in a letter his decision to not file charges against Northglenn officer Charles Festi and Thornton officer Mikal Timm related to the Aug. 18, 2021, shooting of Lucas Antonio Salas.
