Identified as Rugiero Rea
1762971906545.webp

Rugiero Rea, born in Pomigliano d'Arco on October 16, 1966, moved to Brusciano (Naples) after his marriage, where his son Ciro was born. Despite his family's opposition to the relationship, the couple's life continued normally until the day Rugiero disappeared, taking with him only a photo of his son and wife. At the time, he was a barber.

On November 15, 1993, the body of a man was found under the Haringpakkersbrug bridge in Amsterdam by a hiker. Despite thorough investigations, the victim's identity remained unknown. Several items were found with the body: a train ticket from Oberhausen to Amsterdam valid for November 14, 1993, a travel itinerary from Dortmund to Amsterdam, a German coin, and a PSI (Italian Socialist Party) keychain.

For over 30 years, Ciro grew up without a father, but he never gave up on his search for the truth. In May 2025, Detective Meyer, director of a foundation specializing in solving cold cases, collaborated with Rugiero Rea's family, connecting the discovery of the body in 1993 to that of the missing Campanian, finally closing a case that had kept the family suspended in limbo.
