INDIANAPOLIS — The search for 8-month-old Amiah Robertson has prompted a lot of rumors and speculation into what exactly has happened to the infant.
We know the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department took a missing person report from Amiah's mother on Saturday, March 16, but it was later learned that the infant had not been seen alive since March 9.
Detectives continue to conduct interviews, review tips and search for Amiah.
Below is a timeline of the events we know based on what IMPD detectives have released so far in their search and investigation.
Saturday, March 9

• This was the last day that Amiah's mother or anyone else police have spoken to remembers seeing Amiah Robertson alive. The child's mother told detectives that her boyfriend Robert Lyons had taken the infant "to the babysitter." These details were not actually released until a March 23 press conference with police. Lyons is believed to have been driving a 1996 maroon Isuzu Rodeo in "poor condition." Detectives believe Lyons was in the area of Rockville Road and South Mickley Avenue for an "extended period of time"during the day.
• Detectives say Lyons returned around 10 p.m. to Amiah's mother but did not have the infant.

Thursday, March 14

• During the initial report to police, this was the day Amiah's mother told police she had last seen her infant. It is unclear what went on this day but it was later determined that her mother had not seen her for nearly a week before this time.

Saturday, March 16

• Police were called to a home in the 200 block of S. Holmes Avenue to take a missing person report for 8-month-old Amiah. Police say at the time the report was taken, family members told them they did not believe the baby was in danger.
• Also that day, IMPD arrested a 20-year-old man from that same residence on a domestic, according to public police records. That man was preliminary charged of leaving the scene of an accident and criminal recklessness, according to those public records.

A missing person report was filed for Amiah Robertson on March 16, 2019.
Tuesday, March 19

• During the course of their investigation, IMPD says conflicting statements from family members and additional information detectives learned raised their concerns for the welfare of the child. A formal release and missing person plea was issued around 2 a.m. by IMPD asking for the public's help to find her. Police also requested a Silver Alert be issued.
• A Silver Alert was activated by Indiana State Police for Amiah around 11 a.m.
• Later that day, detectives obtained a search warrant for the home in the 200 block of S. Holmes Avenue, where Amiah was first reported missing, so they could interview possible witnesses and collect any potential evidence that might help them locate the baby. Forensics were collected from the scene as a precautionary measure and to help with the search for Amiah, according to police.

Investigators from the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department investigate in the 200 block of South Holmes Avenue in the area where 8-month-old Amiah Robertson was reported missing.
Wednesday, March 20

• IMPD announced that they were working with the FBI in their search for Amiah. Detectives also tell Call 6 Investigates that they have reviewed clips of surveillance video that could aide detectives in the right direction. It is still unclear what those clips contain or if they are of any relevance to Amiah's disappearance.
• As the investigation unfolded, detectives received a tip that items were seen along the bank of the White River that may be connected to Amiah. The location was less than a mile from the home where detectives were searching on Tuesday and where Amiah was last seen. Detectives responded and with the help of the Indianapolis Fire Department dive team searched the area. IMPD says their search was "inconclusive" at the time, but it was later determined that those items did, in fact, belong to Amiah.

Thursday, March 21

• The Silver Alert for Amiah Robertson was officially canceled at midnight, Thursday, March 21. Police say they canceled the Silver Alert because they were receiving "very few tips" on the hotline.
• The search along the White River was expanded downstream but no new evidence was located.

Friday, March 22

• A group of community members went out to search the area around the White River for Amiah. They were "unsolicited," according to IMPD Chief Bryan Roach, but he thanked them for their help.

Saturday, March 23

• IMPD held a press conference to release new details about Amiah's disappearance. During the course of that interview, police revealed that Amiah's disappearance had been upgraded to a homicide investigation. Detectives also told investigators that they had been speaking to Lyons and he had told them several locations where the infant "should have been" but after checking each location they were unable to find the infant. Detectives also say some of the locations where Lyons sent them never existed.
• Detectives also revealed during this press conference that Lyons had been "taunting" Amiah's mother about where her daughter could be.
• During that press conference, police also issued a plea to the public for anyone who who may have seen Lyons or Amiah on March 9 or any day after to contact them.

Sunday, March 24

• Firefighters were called to a pond near the Mariner's Village Apartments around 7:15 p.m. in reference to a tip about Amiah's disappearance. Crews were able to complete a brief search before it become too dark to operate safely.

Monday, March 25

• Indianapolis police detectives and firefighters from multiple departments returned to the pond near the Mariner's Village Apartments around 9:30 a.m. Fire department boats used side-scanning sonar technology that creates a picture or an image of what is at the bottom of the pond to search the water.

Investigators were called to a pond near the Mariner's Village Apartments on March 25 after someone reported evidence possibly connected to Amiah Robertson.
Monday, April 29
Investigators begin a search at the home of Amiah Robertson's supposed babysitter on Holmes Avenue, the last place the infant was believed to be seen. IMPD Deputy Chief Chris Bailey said investigators received a tip that there may be something in the backyard of the home. Crews took out bags of possible evidence.
Tuesday, April 30
For a second day, crews returned to the home on Holmes Avenue, this time with cadaver dogs and a team from the University of Indianapolis. After digging up portions of the yard and collecting possible evidence, Bailey told the media they were unable to locate anything that would help with their investigation.

On April 29, Investigators returned to a home on Holmes Avenue to search for new evidence connected to baby Amiah after receiving a tip that something may be in the back yard of the home.
Following that search, Amiah's mother, Amber, spoke to the media and issued a plea for her daughter's return. "I feel my daughter is still out there," Amber said ."If you have my daughter, please bring her home."

Thank you so much for putting up this case, this little baby got into my heart on following it.

There are a lot of odd things in it. They have named Robbie Lyons a suspect but have not arrested him for this murder. The last I knew he was arrested for something else unrelated and in jail. Not sure if he still is.

They allegedly lived in a car or shed or both behind the property/house. Amber has a son as well. There is a man who has claimed that he thinks he is the father of the baby, it has also been said the father of the older son is.

She did not report her missing for a week or some such and if I recall, she was only reported missing because they responded to the residence on a domestic battery call and it came about during that conversation that she was missing, I believe it may have been because the bf was refusing to tell Amber where the baby was or taunting her with not telling her whereabouts?

One odd thing is Amber, awhile after the baby was reported missing, went to a park one day and allegedly found items of Amiah's at the park. To me this has always seemed very coincidental/odd. This baby had been missing and searched had taken place.

All sorts of things.

I found following this case that Indy has a LOT of crime daily and serious crime and locals were on with opinions about it and the overworked department. A lot of effort has went in but the family seems to have given the runaround, imo, and Lyons certainly has. LE was also behind the eight ball because the baby was not reported missing right away and in fact something like a week later.

It remains an open case but the odd of finding her seem slim after all of this time. They have as the article say, dug in the yard, searched bodies of water, determined a day that Robbie Lyons was in another area for hours that day (city area, not rural).

It is also said certain people have lied or not cooperated.

It is said she was with the babysitter last, the babysitter denied it.

Robbie and Amber apparently had a date at a "motel" the night she went missing. That has been widely questioned and discussed.

There is more but that is what I can think of off of the top of my head. Oh he also had a vehicle impounded upon arrest that was racking up major storage charges and I believe there are former drug charges and such.

Although police listed Lyons as a suspect, they said they are not seeking his whereabouts at the moment.

It is unclear where Lyons is. And police did not shed light on the matter during Saturday's press conference.

He is currently not in custody; he was admitted to the Marion County Jail on March 17 and released March 20 after being in custody on an unrelated charge, according to jail records.

Turner said police do not want to arrest or charge anyone until they have substantial probable cause to make the arrest.

“Just because we’re not looking for him now doesn’t mean that we haven’t seen him prior to him being locked up on the 17th,” Turner said.

"Make no assumption that we haven't talked to him at all," he said.

Amiah's mother has been cooperative and is not a suspect, police said.

Right!!? And, how does one report their baby missing, yet not believe their baby is in danger? How do they have that sense of security for the child's well-being if they have no idea where the child is? Like, hello.... you are filing a missing persons report on a baby! It was interesting to read some of the statements made by the mother (Robertson),

"I'm hoping someone can reach out to my child and get her home safely," Amber Robertson, the baby's mother, told Eyewitness News.
"(Lyons) just kept telling me the statement, 'If you go with me by yourself, I will take you to go get the child,'" Robertson said. "I felt like I would be harmed, so I didn't go."

If you ask me, I think I would take the risk in order to find my child- with backup and a plan, ofcourse.

I am a bit confused about how she trusted him (alone) to be temporarily responsible for her daughter, yet she fears going alone with him to supposedly "take her to get the child".
I completely understand and encourage protecting oneself, being cautious, and not falling into a trap, but something still feels off here..

Today you crossed my mind and some recent cases have made me think of you even more than usual. King Hill, the mess of people are they all intentionally lying so it cannot be determined who, what or where? Your case seemed and and still seems like that... Evelyn Boswell's reminded me of yours although that poor baby has been found. No one charged with her murder yet though. Continual lies and stories...

An Indianapolis woman is determined to keep a missing baby girl on the minds of Hoosiers more than a year after she suddenly disappeared.

CC Hatton is organizing a downtown protest for missing baby Amiah Robertson. The protest is open to everyone. It is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 31 at 9 a.m. at the City-County Building located at 200 East Washington Street — the headquarters for IMPD, which is investigating Amiah's disappearance. The protest will then move to the Marion County Prosecutor's Office located at 251 East Ohio Street.

Hatton has a long list of signatures on a petition for the prosecutor about the Amiah Robertson case. She shared with 13News that the original detective assigned to the case retired and the new detective has been giving the case as much attention as possible under the circumstances.

A final decision on any charges in the case would come from Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears.

I fail to understand how the people related to this case seem to not care and in fact how she could be missing for how long before anyone even reported her missing.

Others in attendance Saturday included the family members of Jamie Jo Tate, who was last seen July 30, 2020, and advocates who say they've dedicated the last two years to searching for Amiah Robertson, an 8-month-old who went missing in March 2019.

Indianapolis police classified her case as a homicide investigation shortly after she disappeared. No arrests have been made.

CC Hatton and Lindsay Knight, both of Indianapolis, have no blood ties to Robertson, nor did they ever meet her. They saw her story on the news and felt compelled to act.

"She touched our heart," Knight said. "She needs somebody to fight for her."
