    Circumstances of Disappearance

Case was last seen in her hometown of Spanish Fork, Utah on July 9, 1988. Case had left a company party on July 9 with her boyfriend. They went to a private party where witnesses reported some hostilities between the two, and they left that party together. That was the last time she was seen.

Her parents and a fellow employee at the Ensign-Bickford Company's Trojan explosives plant in Mapleton, reported her missing on July 13. DNA tests on family members were done to help with identification. She may not be in Utah. Foul play is suspected.

Human remains found at home where missing Spanish Fork woman lived

SPANISH FORK, Utah -- A tenant and his friend located human remains in the cellar of a Spanish Fork home while removing things on Monday morning.

Spanish Fork officers responded to 80 North and 800 East just before 10:30 a.m. after the two individuals reported they found a skull wrapped in a blanket and plastic mesh. According to a press release by Spanish Fork police, the two individuals saw loose dirt in the cellar and started to dig. The homeowner said he knew the previous tenant had gone missing and this is what sparked his curiosity to dig into the dirt, the press release continued. On July 15, 1988, a woman named Peggy Sue Case was reported missing to police, officials said. In 1988, police dug through the cellar and failed to locate Case or any evidence. Michael Kurfin lived with Case during that time and was listed as a person of interest to police. Police said Kurfin's whereabouts are currently unknown.

Officials said the skull and other remains will be taken to the State of Utah Medical Examiner's Office for identification.

SPANISH FORK — Police booked a missing woman's ex-boyfriend into the Utah County Jail Monday, five months after the woman's remains were found in the cellar of her former Spanish Fork residence, according to Spanish Fork Police Lt. Brandon Anderson.

Michael Ignatius Kufrin, 61, was arrested July 17 in Illinois and on Monday was extradited to Utah, where he was booked into jail, Anderson said. Kufrin was living with his girlfriend, Peggy Sue Case, at 80 N. 800 East when Case went missing in 1988.
