Thursday marks missing Buckeye boy's 11th birthday, authorities continue search for him

The young boy disappeared nearly eight months ago from his Buckeye home. A private investigator is now handling the case and in November he wouldn't confirm whether he believed Jesse was dead or alive when asked by ABC15.

The Buckeye Police Department said investigators continue to receive tips from the public regarding the boy's disappearance but refused to comment further regarding the situation. However, they did confirm on Monday that the investigation is ongoing.

DPS completed tests on missing Buckeye boy 2 months ago

Buckeye Police continue to investigate the disappearance of 10-year-old Jesse Wilson.

12 News has now learned evidence collected at the home has been tested and the results have been sent to investigators. The director of the DPS Crime Lab confirmed the evidence was sent back to investigators at the end of January.

The challenging part of this investigation is finding a solid piece of evidence from a home that could have several prints and DNA samples inside.

“It makes it really difficult to rely on forensic evidence like prints or DNA to reliably say or to paint a picture of what could have occurred.,” said Vince Figarelli.

Figarelli is the superintendent at the lab and overseas all the cases. He would not talk about the specifics of this case but acknowledged cases “like this” are often difficult.

“It really is something the laboratory can assist with, but as far as finding something that is definitive is really tough,” said Figarelli.

Buckeye Police have not said what sort of evidence was collected from the home or how many items were tested by the lab.

A spokesperson with the department would only say the case is “not a cold case” and that investigators continue to work it.

One year since Jesse Wilson went missing, still no answers

Tuesday marks one year since the disappearance of 10-year-old Buckeye boy Jesse Wilson.

Now, Buckeye police are still digging for clues and information that could shine any light on where the boy could be, but still nothing. There are no arrests, no suspects and no sign of Jesse Wilson. Police say they're not giving up.

Buckeye PD is asking that tips and information be submitted via the tip line at 623-349-6411 or by email at bpdtips@buckeyeaz.gov.

Jesse Wilson update: Police hope for clues in search for missing boy after 1 year

It was a year ago Tuesday that Jesse Wilson's mom called the non-emergency number for Buckeye police to say Jesse, just 10 years old at the time, was gone.

Since that call, there's been no sign of Jesse, but police did go through his own family's home late one night.

They've also searched by foot, horseback and drones, and the FBI is still involved in the case.

Buckeye police say this case is something they think about every day.

"This case weighs heavy on our hearts," says Detective Tamela Skaggs. "This is something that we think about every single day."

As for a suspect, police aren't saying if they have a person of interest or if they believe family was involved in his disappearance, only saying, "we can't rule anything out."

At this point, it's not clear if Jesse is even alive.

"We have to be realistic in this case," says Skaggs. "It has been a year. It is a possibility that this may be a recovery case, although we are hopeful that it's not, that Jesse is out there and that we can find him and get answers for so many people to include us."
